Milan in fresh Dzeko bid

Milan will renew their interest in Edin Dzeko next summer by potentially offering Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Wolfsburg as part of the deal. Stories in the peninsula this morning suggest that the Italian club are so desperate to land the Bosnian for 2010-11 that they have already begun fresh negotiations.

Milan failed in their attempt to sign the striker last summer, but Vice-President Adriano Galliani and director Ariedo Braida reportedly again met Wolfsburg general manager Dieter Hoeness this week.

Central to their conversations were Dzeko, the Bundesliga hotshot who is also attracting the interest of Chelsea. The problem is that Wolfsburg’s asking price, understood to be in the region of £30m, is deemed as excessive by the San Siro giants. As a result, Milan are said to be ready to offer Huntelaar plus cash in exchange for the powerful centre-forward.

Huntelaar, a goal machine during his days at Ajax, has struggled to break into the first team this term following his late move from Real Madrid. Having only scored three League goals so far, he is viewed as a first reserve to the in-form Marco Borriello at present.

Although a January move has been ruled out for the Dutchman, Milan are ready to sell at the end of the season if he fails to settle.
