Moratti rules out reinforcements

Inter President Massimo Moratti has denied reports that the Nerazzurri will try and replace Cristian Chivu and Patrick Vieira in January.

Chivu suffered a fractured skull after clashing heads with Sergio Pellissier during Inter's match with Chievo yesterday morning.

The Romanian defender is expected to be out for three months, leaving Inter short at the back for a crucial part of the season.

Jose Mourinho has also expressed his desire to sign a player capable of replacing Patrick Vieira who is leaving for Manchester City.

Patrick Vieira Signs £100,000-Per-Week Deal With Manchester City - Report

The Inter man has completed his transfer to Eastlands, according to the English press...

Patrick Vieira has completed his long-awaited transfer from Inter Milan to Manchester City, according to The Guardian.

The newspaper reports that Vieira sealed the switch on Thursday night, travelling to Manchester to undergo a medical and pen a £100,000-per-week contract.

The deal is said to run for an initial six months, with the option of an additional year.

The move ends the former Arsenal captain's five-year spell in Italy, where he played with Juventus before signing on for Roberto Mancini's Nerazzurri in 2006.

It also gives the 33-year-old an opportunity to play his way back into the French national team with the World Cup coming up, having fallen out of the frame due to his lack of starts under Jose Mourinho at San Siro.

There are suggestions that Vieira could even be handed the club captaincy at Eastlands while Kolo Toure is away with the Ivory Coast squad at the African Nations Cup.

I wont be surprised to see Arnautovic play for more than half an hour this time.

Everything seems to point out that we will get another midfield reinforcement for free in january. Ledesma. I'm not much inclined to beleive what journalists write, but yesterday's press conference from Mourinho gave a clear indication. He said that if there is a possibility to make an easy transfer at the end of january than it will be done, otherwise we'll remain as we are. Ledesma just recently applied for a court ruling like Pandev, and it seems by the end of january there could be a verdict. So everything points to that direction. Maybe Ledesma can at last free Cambiasso from his DM position.

Ledesma is a good signing but it's taking us in a direction we shouldn't be going in. In the CM dept, we're starting to look more like quantity rather than quality. Stankovic, Motta, Cambiasso, Muntari, Ledesma and Khrin is great for Serie A and would probably be top 2 going round but where is that world class player/world class potential that makes the difference? All of those players (minus Stankovic) are not CL winning (or even quarter-final) quality. What's the point in getting rid of Vieira to replace him with, albeit a good player, someone that's not going to kick us up a notch?

Frankly, I'd rather Ledesma than Muntari/Khrin but besides different characteristics, what really changes in the team? I know our new philosophy on spending but I'd be much more inclined to see a youngster (not so young that he cannot play in the first team) of huge potential or a player we splash out on than us continuing signing only 'good' midfielders.

It seems good defenders and strikers come a dime a dozen these days but a world class CM is a diamond.

E' ormai il laziale Ledesma il primo obiettivo del mercato dei nerazzurri a centrocampo per sostituire Patrick Vieira, partito alla volta del Manchester City. Ci sono molte conferme in questo senso: Marco Branca, dt interista, avrebbe di fatto raggiunto da giorni un accordo di massima con l'argentino ex Lecce, quindi ora non resta che aspettare la sentenza del Collegio Arbitrale per conoscere meglio le reali intenzioni del club di Moratti. Il tecnico Mourinho spinge per avere subito il giocatore, ma non sarà immediata la conclusione della trattativa. Juve e Fiorentina, interessate a Ledesma, risultano comunque in netto ritardo sull'Inter.

1st half

Good:

- Sneijder; brilliant. Can't ask anything more of him.
- One touch passing between Stankovic, Motta, Sneijder, Quaresma, Pandev and Milito has been pretty good on occasion

Shit:

- Zanetti, what fucking piss poor defending is this? On 5 occasions, stood off his man 20 meters and just let him get crosses in. Worst game of his career so far.
- Lucio and Cordoba, abysmal. What absolute crap on the first goal. They should've just let him walk it into the net.
- Maicon should be banned from crossing the ball for the rest of his career.
- Motta and Stankovic are getting absolutely massacred in transition; great going forward but horrible going back.

I don't understand the thought process of Maicon and Lucio; they've got some amazing ball players infront of them and yet, the ball has just been hoofed forward about 6 times? What the fuck you dumb cunt Brazilians. And Stankovic and Motta cannot play next to eachother, I've realized. Motta is too slow to do any tracking back and Stankovic is getting caught too far forward when they get the ball. We don't have anyone on the bench that can replace them so we're simply going to have to outscore Siena to win. 2 shots and 2 goals, what a joke. Bottom of the table teams annoy the piss out of me.

And once again, what the hell is going on with the yellow cards? We've committed about 3 fouls and them at least 10 and yet, we have a yellow and they don't? What about the hacks on Pandev and Stankovic on the edge of the box? This has happened too much this season for me..

Second half; Sub on Samuel for Zanetti and move Cordoba to LB and that's about it, maybe Arna for Quaresma. The bench is basically the entire Primavera team so we don't have any real options.

We do MI but I think the midfield is much more of a concern. Zanetti will bounce back like he always does and Santon should be ready to go pretty soon but there's no denying, as Frank said, what happened out there tonight in that our midfield was shown up for the weaknesses it has. Don't forget, as of right now we only have one pure CDM in Cambiasso and when we can't use him at the bottom of the diamond or as the destroyer in the 4-2-3-1, this is what's going to happen. Remember, we played the bottom of the table team, not Chelsea.

I'm going to cut the team a bit of slack though; no Eto'o, Balotelli, Chivu, Muntari, Khrin, Vieira, Materazzi, Cambiasso and Stankovic getting injured at half time while a lot of players just had a bad day.

Nevertheless, it was a good wake up call that didn't really hurt us in terms of our position on the table. Hopefully the side will continue to go forward after today.
