Shield, maybe you havent fully understood what I said. We get Kolarov (full ownership) & give Lazio cash + 6 month loan Santon. After those 6 months Lazio will have the right to buy Santon but at the same time, Inter will have the right to re-sign Santon. This means that we will get Kolarov and have Santon next year too. No Italian product will leave Inter, but Lazio will gain a little something extra in terms of cash.

There is no way Inter are going to let go of Santon, that's for sure. He and Balotelli are the brightest prospects we have.

Didn't Santon's agent deny any movement for him in January market? All the recent reports I have been seeing have linked Khrin and Obi with a move rather than Santon.

I understood that, Lomba. But the fact remains Inter are once again giving away a young, promising home-grown Italian player, be it on loan or co-ownership or full transfer, in order to acquire someone else. Why not give Santon his chance and trust in your youth? He is an Italian international after all. He may not want to come back after being trading in such a manner.

Shield its not that simple. Santon showed great potential last year, but he also showed quite a fragile mental attitude and he's got more than one aspect to work on to with regards to technical & tactical attributes. When you play for a team like Inter, you cant make a mistake, as unfortunate as that might seem. If he plays a regular 6 months in a team like Lazio, with much less expectancies, then he can mature a little gradually. That is a big difference with say Balotelli. Balotelli doesnt have a fragile mental attitude (far from it), hence he'd have little to learn elsewhere. He needs to learn from the champions. IMO, it would be a good move, Italian or not Italian, Santon needs time & space to grow and at Inter you cant afford that.

Lomba, I think most of us understand that that's the way things work at Inter, but that's precisely why many of us think something's a bit rotten at the heart of your club, despite your current success. Of course Santon's not the finished product, but he's already a pretty gifted player and Inter should have the balls to invest in him. How many points is playing Santon at left-back for every game from now until the end of the season likely to cost you? Not many, I shouldn't think. And instead you'd rather go for Kolarov? I can understand the thinking, but it's precisely that thinking which makes many of us think Inter really needs some soul.
