JUVE DISMISS HIDDINK LINK

Juventus have denied reports they have approached Guus Hiddink as a possible replacement for coach Ciro Ferrara. The former Chelsea tactician has been linked with a move to the Turin giants as he is set to become a free agent once his contract as head coach of Russia's national team expires next summer.

A statement from Juventus read: "Juventus denies reports coming from England of a possible interest for Guus Hiddink.

"The club has never considered any other coach because Ciro Ferrara has our full backing and is at the centre of our sporting project."

The Italian club have been struggling of late, slipping to third place in Serie A and getting knocked out of the Champions League earlier this month after a 4-1 humiliation by Bayern Munich.

Marcello Lippi, the Italy coach, has ruled out a return to Juventus after the World Cup finals next year. Lippi, who left the Azzurri after winning the 2006 World Cup but returned to the job in 2008, has not committed himself to the national side beyond the finals in South Africa and his future remains open to speculation.

He has been linked with a return to his former club next season, especially with the current Juve coach, Ciro Ferrara, under pressure following a run of four successive Serie A defeats.

"I don't know what I will do after the World Cup but I will not return to Juve, neither as coach nor director," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 61-year-old said he had advised Juventus to appoint Ferrara after Claudio Ranieri was sacked in May, and also backed the possible return of the former sporting director Roberto Bettega to the Turin club.

Bettega left Juve a year after the 2006 match-fixing scandal but was never implicated in any wrongdoing. Media reports say Juventus's board is ready to reappoint Bettega to the role to try to stop their Serie A slump which has left them in third place and nine points behind the leaders, Internazionale.

Can we move on from Lippi??? It is like the ex-girlfriend you lost your virginity to and you just can't let go. Thank you for the good times but let's get a different coach with a different mentality. Lippi's team on paper is miles ahead of this current team.

Well, If they were going to fire Ferrara I would think they would have enough respect for him to do it after the holiday's. I guess we'll find out after the new year if it's true.
