Genoa's Domenico Criscito: I Am Working Towards Wearing The Azzurri Jersey
Genoa defender Domenico Criscito has a few things he wants to achieve in 2010: one is to see his club finish high up the table when the season is over, but the other is to confirm his spot in the Italian national team.
The Grifoni currently occupy 11th place on the ladder, but are only four points from fourth-placed Roma.
"Personally, I am working very hard to continue to wear the Azzurri jersey," the 22-year-old revealed to Sportal. "As it is my dream.
"As for the team, we need to go forward on the path we are on now.
"We are demonstrating to be a side that can challenge for a high position on the ladder."
It will also be the stopper's 23rd birthday on Wednesday, and he thanks the Rossoblu tifosi for their well wishes.
"I thank the fans, that flooded me with well wishes last year," the former Juventus player stated. "The are unique, and they give me an extra boost when I am playing.
"Their devotion to the colours is second to none," Criscito concluded.

Italy Coach Marcello Lippi Opens Door To Luca Toni & Francesco Totti; Antonio Cassano & Alessandro The Waterboy Frozen Out

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has offered Roma duo Francesco Totti and Luca Toni a source of hope ahead of World Cup 2010. Toni's return to the peninsula was prompted by his desire to feature in South Africa, whilst Totti is fighting against injuries with the hope he can regain a spot in the national team post international retirement.
Lippi has tackled the selection issue head on, and whilst he has left the door open to Totti and Toni, players such as Antonio Cassano, Alessandro The Waterboy and Mario Balotelli appear to have been overlooked once again.
"I am happy that Toni returned to Italy. He now has the chance to get back into play. He has been out for some time since the Confederations Cup when he was not well," the coach told Il Messaggero.
"Now he can find consistency. He has six months, I will stop there.
"As for Totti, he has never bluffed in his life. He has always been coherent and transparent. You will see he will recover this time too, he has always made it as he has great character and I love him as a man and player."
The former Juventus tactician is well aware of the torment he faces from now until June in relation to the selection of his final 23-man squad, as a number of familiar faces lie in wait.
"Every coach has had to deal with these torments, but I am used to it. It's not just [Mario] Balotelli, Cassano, The Waterboy, and I am sure there will be more…" he concluded.

Well there is no doubt that Lippi would want Nesta in the side. The only thing that worries me is that Nesta may not want to come back.
