Mourinho faces assault claims

JOSE Mourinho's stormy relationship with the Italian press has reached a new low with the former Chelsea manager being accused of physically and verbally abusing a journalist after Internazionale's draw away to Atalanta at the weekend.

Mourinho, who has made no secret of wanting to return to manage a Premiershit club in the future, must now wait to see if Internazionale president Massimo Moratti or the Italian Football Federation decides to heed calls to punish him.

Andrea Ramazzotti of Rome-based paper 'Corriere dello Sport' was allegedly pushed and insulted by Mourinho when he approached the Inter team bus after Sunday's game.

Ramazzotti had been given permission by press officers from both home club Atlanta and Inter to approach the bus, on behalf of the written press at the game, and listen to Inter players giving interviews to the club's own TV channel.

Journalists at the scene claim Mourinho confronted him using derogatory language asking what he thought he was doing in an area where no press representatives were allowed. They say he refused to accept the journalist's claim that he had been given permission and pushing ensued before the pair were separated.

The Italian Sport Union of Journalists (USSI) condemned Mourinho's alleged actions, urging Inter president Moratti and the country's governing sporting bodies to investigate. A statement issued by them made reference to Mourinho's "ill-mannered and disrespectful tone" towards journalists prior to Inter's Champions League game with Rubin Karzan last week and asked Moratti to "intervene energetically so that a member of his club (Mourinho) adapts to the great tradition of civility of the club and of the Moratti family".

"I would rather not say anything," said Inter Milan president Moratti. "I do not have all the evidence in front of me to make a judgement. I will talk with the Italian Sports press and I will talk to the head of the union to find out what he means by 'energetic action'." The USSI also want the Italian Football Federation to make a stand urging it "to examine the behaviour of Mourinho for eventual sanctions".

Tension had built up between the Italian sports press and Mourinho in the days leading up to Inter's match against Atalanta. The Portuguese coach had been unhappy about the tone of questioning before Inter's Champions League win over Rubin Kazan suggesting he could be fired if they failed to qualify.

Jose Mourinho admits he insulted a journalist, but the Inter Coach denies pushing him and refuses to apologise.

A fiery but sparse Press conference was held today at the training ground, his first since Sunday’s incident in which he is alleged to have pushed and insulted Corriere dello Sport reporter Andrea Ramazzotti.

Some members of the Italian media boycotted the conference as a sign of protest, while others decided to take him to task.

There are a lot of rumors going on currently about our new striker. Pandev is not a certainty for our winter transfer market, considering his contract situation. We will most probably get him anyway in summer for free, so there is no point in spending money for him this winter if we will get him for free 6 months later. Having said that, we will get a striker this winter and to further this issue, yesterday Mourinho stated again that he needs a striker, due to Eto's departure.
We have been associated with Toni, since he is a sure departure (for free) from Bayern this winter. I hope we don’t take that into consideration. Another option, which according to Sportmediaset is more than an option but rather a certainty is Edison Cavani from Palermo. Sportmediaset a couple days ago said that Inter had signed the Uruguain forward with a co-ownership deal of 5M with Palermo. Cavani is currently unhappy at Palermo because for some reason, the fans have more than once jeered him off the pitch. Zamparini said that if Cavani had signed for Inter, he will be the next person on the moon....knowing Zamparini, he aint bluffing. If we want Cavani, we have to talk with Zamparini, which is never an easy task. The newest trail is another Uruguain, Aguirregaray. His agent stated that Inter are seriously thinking about him and there could be an offer soon. He said he is a champion and that it was obvious that clubs like Inter would be interested in him. Quite honestly, I don’t know who he is and I don’t even know his age or where he plays. All I know is that he is a left, wide player who can play both in midfield and as a wide striker (ala Eto'o this season). His value, apparently is that of 3M Euros. Let's await further developments but I guess this time we are really after a striker. Arnautovic will be given back to Twente I guess, since he wasn’t even called up for tonight's Coppa Italia match.
No real rumours for our midfield, but on a side note, we just signed a 17-yo Nigerian midfielder who was one of the most brilliant players in this year's U-18 WC tournament. Nwankwo. I don’t have much feedback on him either, but if he stays with the club, he would occupy our last non-Eu spot available. I would presume he would go to a friendly club for the rest of the season (like Julio Cesar & Maxwell did when they first arrived in Italy).

Luca Toni, secondo quanto appreso in esclusiva da calciomercato.com, giocherà nell'Inter. L'accordo tra le parti sarebbe già stato raggiunto, con l'attaccante italiano che percepirà circa 2,5 mln di euro. Non è ancora dato sapere se il giocatore arriverà in prestito o a
titolo definitivo, e i termini economici dell'operazione tra Inter e Bayern. Al momento comunque resterebbero da definire solo alcuni dettagli economici relativi allo stipendio che Toni prendeva al Bayern Monaco (si parla di 4,8 mln di euro netti). Se questa inidiscrezione sarà confermata, per Toni ci sarà il tanto sospirato ritorno nel Bel Paese. La situazione in casa bavarese per l'attaccante campione del mondo era infatti diventata insostenibile con continue incomprensioni con il tecnico Van Gaal che lo ha relegato ai margini della rosa.

Calciomercato.com exclusive: Luca Toni wiil play with Inter in January. The Italian attacker will earn about 2.5 million euro. It is not yet known if Toni will be on loan as well as the details of the deal between Inter and Bayern. If this rumor will be confirmed, Toni will finally fulfill his desire to return to Italy, now that his relationship with the German club and the coach Van Gaal is increasingly deteriorating.

Jose seeking new striker - Inter boss looking for Eto'o cover

Jose Mourinho has revealed he will look to bolster his attacking options in the January transfer window.

Inter Milan will lose Samuel Eto'o to the African Cup of Nations in the New Year and Mourinhobelieves that will leave him short of strikers.

He is therefore keen to bring in a new forward to cover for Eto'o during a crucial stage of the season.

"Considering we will lose Eto'o for a month-and-a-half, I would like a striker in January," Mourinho told reporters.

Lazio's Goran Pandev and Luca Toni of Bayern Munich, both out of favour with their respective clubs, have been linked with winter moves to Inter.

Mourinho admires the pair but admits it would be difficult to sign either man.

"It's impossible that in a given player you have all the qualities that we need," Mourinho explained.

"Pandev is not Toni in the area but Toni is not Pandev in terms of speed and creativity.

"But Toni is a Bayern player and Pandev is a Lazio player and none of these players are free agents or are easy to sign.

"Hence, I leave the decision to the club.

"If they are able to sign one that would be good, otherwise, we will stick with what we have."
