Milan are serious about Pandev

Milan have made Lazio striker Goran Pandev their No 1 priority in the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Rossoneri are looking for a player capable of providing continuity on the left-hand side of their attack in case Ronaldinho or Alexandre Pato get injured.

Negotiations for the Macedonia international could prove difficult, though, as he is currently involved in legal proceedings against Lazio. The 26-year-old is trying to rescind his contract after Claudio Lotito allegedly froze him out of the first team for demanding a move in the summer.

It had looked as if a resolution would be fairly quick in coming, but things took a turn for the worst yesterday as Salvatore Giacchetti, the President of the tribunal handling the case, actually changed his mind.

After seeing Lazio reintegrate another player frozen out by Lotito, namely fans' favourite Fabio Firmani, Giacchetti wants more time to consider the case.

La Gazzetta understands Milan will wait until the tribunal gives them guarantees on Pandev's situation, as Adriano Galliani doesn't want to spark any arguments with Lotito.



What do you guys think about this? He'd give you another option down either flank in the 4-3-3 presumably and it'd be nice to snatch him from under Inter's noses after he's been linked with them for most of the past 3 months, no?

According to MilanNews.it, Milan centre-back Kakhaber Kaladze is at the end of his tether after being snubbed again by boss Leonardo last weekend and is poised to hand in a transfer request.

The veteran Georgian international was overlooked for the home game against Palermo despite Brazilian Thiago Silva being sidelined, as Giuseppe Favalli was given the nod to partner Alessandro Nesta in the heart of the Rossoneri defence.

Kaladze is apparently refusing to tolerate this situation any longer and could decide to leave the Rossoneri during the January transfer window.

It is suggested that Russian side Zenit St Petersburg have already showed interest in Kaladze who has also suitors in England, Germany and Ukraine.

The 31-year-old has spent almost a decade in Milan after arriving from Dynamo Kiev in 2001.

and Pandev im not sure, would he be better playing on the wing or down the middle as we lack options down the middle, Pippo must have service an Hunter is the same we dont have anybody who can create some magic out of nothing like Pato can

He's a second forward, SP, so I don't think you'd want him leading the line or playing through the middle in the 4-3-3. He'd just give you a slightly different set of options down the wing. He's probably most comfortable as the second striker in a 4-4-2, like Pato, I should think, but presumably other than Ronaldinho and Pato he's better than the alternatives you've got in the squad at the moment and I could imagine at times he could play down the right and so release Pato to play through the middle.

Former England international Gary Lineker, now a BBC football presenter and pundit, believes Chelsea and Manchester United will prevail when the English giants square off against Jose Mourinho’s Inter and 2007 Champions League winners AC Milan, respectively, in February.

Following today's draw for the last 16 of the Champions League, Lineker cites several reasons why he feels the Italians do not have what it takes to make it into the quarter-finals, including a lack of strength in depth compared with the strength in depth of the two Premiershit teams.

“Both Manchester United and Chelsea look much stronger than AC Milan and Inter,” Lineker told Goal.com UK.

“Chelsea have a strong squad and even when they lose key players in January they have got relatively easy fixtures during that period, so [manager Carlo] Ancelotti will be keeping one eye on Inter and will be looking at them closely.

“I don’t see them losing out to Inter. They have been grinding out results despite having a few blips. If you look at Inter, they didn’t exactly make a statement when they took on Barcelona. But no doubt 'The Special One' won’t go down without a fight, especially with him being linked to the Premiershit again," suggested Lineker of Inter coach and former Blues boss Mourinho.

“David Beckham will no doubt be looking to do well against his old side. However, I don’t see them beating Man Utd. Sir tender Alex [Ferguson] will be looking at this one and thinking, ‘we can beat them’; he may have been slightly cautious if they had been paired against Bayern [Munich] for example, for whom [Franck] Ribery is a wonderful player who can really go at defenders. As a team, and even tactically, they would give anyone a stern test.”

Asked if Manchester United or Arsenal can go on and win the competition, Lineker unsurprisingly tips Ancelotti’s squad to go all the way.

“I have a feeling it might be Chelsea’s turn. The difference is that Ancelotti knows what it takes to win the Champions League, and that is no doubt on top of the Chelsea owner’s wish list. However, if you ask Arsene Wenger and Sir tender Alex, I’m sure they will have something to say about that.”
