Juve serious about Ranocchia

Juventus are planning for life after Fabio Cannavaro and would like Bari centre-back Andrea Ranocchia to fill his boots.

The 21-year-old, who is currently on loan from Genoa, has been instrumental in Bari's success this year.

He has marshalled the Galletti's defence with such success that they have conceded fewer goals than any other team in Serie A so far this season.

Juventus expect Cannavaro to retire at the end of the season and move upstairs where he will become a technical director.

Ranocchia fits with the Bianconeri's plan to rejuvenate their squad and more importantly keep it Italian after a number of foreign signings.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ranocchia's parent club, Genoa, would be prepared to start an auction for his services.

The former Arezzo youngster has attracted interest from Milan and Inter in recent months, causing his value to rise dramatically.

If Juventus fail in their bid to sign Ranocchia, then they will turn their attention to Palermo's Denmark international Simon Kjaer.

Competition to sign the 20-year-old is equally fierce, as Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverfekkin'wankscum are also tracking him.

Diego wants Ozil in Turin

Juventus fantasista Diego says he would like to play again with former Werder Bremen team-mate Mesut Ozil. Diego spent three very successful years in Germany with Bremen where 21-year-old Ozil was his chief understudy. Ozil is arguably one of the brightest talents in European football and looks set to light up the World Cup in South Africa next summer as part of a talented Germany team.

He has reveled in Diego's absence this year, inspiring Bremen to second place in the Bundesliga behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Speaking to German tabloid newspaper Bild, Diego said: “One day I would like to play again with Mesut Ozil.

“Mesut is showing all of his potential. If he continues to play like this, Europe's big clubs will here about it and sign him. “I hope that I will be able to play with him in the future. There has always been a good understanding between us. “We had a good time. It would be wonderful to find ourselves back together again.â€

Secco defends Juve signings

Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco insists the club's two big signings, Diego and Felipe Melo, will eventually come good.

The Bianconeri spent nearly £50m on the Brazilian pair during the summer, but both have struggled to make the desired impact.

Both have been singled out for heavy criticism recently as the Turin giants are engulfed in crisis following a run of four defeats in five games.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Secco said: “I want to begin with what was said this summer, during the market and after Juventus's good start to the season.

“Back then we were all excellent, now we are only more stupid. There is a lack of memory.â€

Melo may have potential, but the reasons to sign him, and for so much, were not enough

Diego was a good buy and I should think will come good for you guys. He's quick, works hard, has a nice touch, good vision - he's quite an unBrazilian player in some ways, but that makes him all the better. Melo I have always claimed was a bad buy; I've not changed my opinion on him at all. I thought he was a stupid pick up when you bought him and I still do. He's not a first-class holding midfielder and you already had a number of not-first-class holding midfielders at the club. He is too slow and he's not technically good enough to be anything other than a solid, stolid holding midfielder.
