Guys, I want to clarify my last post.

1) Of course we can't talk football all the time, how boring would that become? I have no objection whatsoever to non football related posts. How could I have...I clearly enjoy them and I make enough of that kind myself to prove the point! But the unarguable fact remains that even on matchdays there is now a lot less football talk than there ought to be!

2) Bagg to his credit maintains a matchday thread in his Juventus section even though there is sometimes little support for it. I say we might think about having one also! What it does is give the appearance of stability and organisation. In short, it creates interest and a desire to post even if it's only to moan about a certain player or the coach...or in our case the painful insertion of a red hot poker up our presidente's ass!

3) While I agree with Ed that the Shoutbox is meant to be an added attraction to our main facilities and should not become "The Forum" as is happening, I have to say there is still a need for the kind of entertainment the Shoutbox gives and I would hope its removal is merely a temporary suspension. But think, guys, have we become too lazy to post? We will have to meet the gaffer halfway here I'd say to see our Shoutbox reinstated...

It seems we don't just need to beat Basilea, Thursday evening, to progress in the EL. We need CSKA Sofia to at least take a point from Fulham in London, however likely or not that may be...I watched Ranieri interviewed on tv today and he wants to win tomorrow so Totti plays. I however take with a pinch of salt ther way he played down the importance of the derby on Sunday evening by saying "all matches are important!"

On Totti, he apparently was given the names of those responsible for hacking his official website yesterday and we will possibly hear at least about the legal repercussions...

Marco, re/your post, it would seem Totti's site is up and running again after being taken offline by its defence system!

Steve, I noticed I mis-spelled noticeable in my original post! I didn't clarify that point... Seriously, I tried to make the point that while I agree we should have the Shoutbox because it in itself creates an interest, it ought not to replace posting in whichever context, particularly in view of the fact we are certainly in need of more football related posts.

Caro Prof, on the contrary, I think the SMS bit describes the evolvement of our forum perfectly. Spontaneity is a powerful attraction! It's also unarguably less work to comment in the Shoutbox than to make a post and therein lies the double problem bugging Ed!

What gives strength to the argument in favour of retaining the Shoutbox is the very accurate point made (I can't remember by whom, I think Fahad) that it also acts as the forum safety valve by keeping the nonsense out of the threads...we don't want to become like Juventuz.com with threads full of one word or just a smiley type posts.

I wholeheartedly agree with yours and Ed's idea of making a record of worthwhile Shoutbox conversations. I have in my time done that at least three times in the off topic Il Caffe thread and in fact I have a Shoutbox conversation from two days ago I am in the middle of editing...but it takes time I don't always have, which applies to us all, I'm sure.
