The agent of Roman Pavlyuchenko claims Roma director Daniele Prade has flown to England this week to discuss the Tottenham striker's possible transfer. Pavlyuchenko has made no secret of his desire to quit White Hart Lane and the former Spartak Moscow star was quoted as saying on Wednesday that a return to Russia was a preference.

Spurs boss Redknapp has maintained that he wants to keep the forward, but he has preferred to select Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe or Peter Crouch this season.

A lack of first-team football has frustrated Pavlyuchenko, whose international credentials have suffered as a result, and a January exit now seems a certainty, although Tottenham are keen to earn a fee close to the £13.8million they paid Spartak.

Zenit St Petersburg have been listed as admirers but, according to Pavlyuchenko's representative, Oliver Wendt, Roma are also interested as they seek firepower to boost a flagging season.

Wendt told romagiallorossa.com: "It is true, yesterday Daniele Prade was in London to better understand the situation of Pavlyuchenko but we don't know the real intentions of the Giallorossi.

"However, the player will surely leave Tottenham as he wanted to leave them this summer.

"It is a feasible piece of business with Roma, but we need to see the needs of the two clubs in question. Roman would be willing to transfer to the Italian capital."

Ed, I have to say I never gave much credence to that Russian dude coming to us as it was also said he wants to go home. I say the same about the Luca Toni stories also at least in regard to returning to Italy rather than his coming to Roma. It looks though, like he may not get home from the Football Italia link below.

This Serbian character Nikola Zigic seems more of a believeable item as he would come to us on loan with an option to buy.

Cut-price Toni eyes Roma

Bayern Munich outcast Luca Toni is willing to take a cut in wages in order to join Roma, according to reports. Stories in the peninsula on Friday are suggesting that the Italian is so desperate to move that he would even accept a slash in salary. Toni has basically been told to find a new club by Bayern boss Louis Van Gaal after failing to convince the Dutchman of his abilities.

Roma have been associated with the former Palermo and Fiorentina player in recent months, with club captain Francesco Totti hinting that he’d love Luca to join him in the Eternal City. Although it is claimed that Toni would make financial sacrifices, it is suggested that he would only consider a switch after speaking with Roma boss Claudio Ranieri.

The 2006 World Cup winner is looking for a move which would offer him strong first team possibilities, also for the good of his international future. Toni is desperate to be a part of the Azzurri set up in South Africa and he hasn’t featured for the national side since the Confederations Cup disaster.

Roma Chase Schalke Striker Kevin Kuranyi

Roma are chasing Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi as Claudio Ranieri decides to bolster his attacking options. According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, Kuranyi has been identified by the Roman side as a priority signing for the January transfer window. It's no secret Ranieri is eager to add strength to the team, but the club are looking to retrench. It's here where Kuranyi falls into place.

The report suggests a €2million offer from the Italian side will be enough to spark negotiations into life. Ranieri will be keen to press for the best possible deal and he has reportedly asked the club for a cash injection when the market reopens next month. Kuranyi's deal expires in June and it is said Schalke coach Felix Magath has already given the move a smooth over.

"The striker we want is not the one that has made the headlines. I will not tell the journalists what nationality he is or you will identify him," Ranieri told the press as reported by La Repubblica.

Adriano, Luca Toni, David Suazo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy have all been linked with the Trigoria-based side.

Roma have joined the race to sign £5million-rated Crystal Palace starlet Victor Moses.

The Selhurst Park club have resigned themselves to losing the 19-year-old in next month's transfer window to help ease the club's crippling debts.

And the Serie A side are the latest to register an interest in the talented forward - who scored an outstanding overhead kick in Palace's 1-1 draw against Barnsley on Saturday.

The Giallorossi join Barcelona, Hoffenheim, Liverfekkin'wankscum, Arsenal and Tottenham in the chase for Moses, who is a product of the Eagles' academy system.

Sunderland, Fulham, Wigan and Birmingham are also interested in the teenager.

I think we can safely say today's news that we officially want to make Nico Burdisso a giallorosso was already a foregone conclusion and though there are those who wanted Mexes to stay, the most likely way to pay off Inter is by letting "Phillou" go...but I don't think we'll get anything like the figure Milan offered us a couple of years ago for him.

The news today from RomaCalcioNews doesn't surprise me too much. I was waiting to see us linked with Tiribocchi of Atalanta as a Toni replacement because this is what I used to often refer to as a typical Roma move and therefore a believable one.

lt would however appear to be too much like common sense for that softcock Pradè to consider Jaime Valdés if he is going to deal with Atalanta. He is 29, has several years of Serie A experience and is a good left sided midfield player.

We could also do worse than move for Bănel Nicoliţă of Steaua Bucarest since we are reportedly considering him for a Taddei replacement.

I am making it a point to completely ignore what Roma does in the market this summer. It will be the same old, same old. Rosella remains and Roma has no money. Mexes is gone, Burdisso will be signed, Luca will probably not be signed, promising youth players will either be loaned out or poached from abroad, the squad will have little depth, and we will wallow in mediocrity next season. Despite Rosella, we some how pulled off a season to remember. Unfortunately, it is difficult to be perfect and one mistake in the last six months probably cost us what would have been an historical season by anyone's standards. I suppose we can say it was an unexpected and improbable season that none of us could have predicted. So, we have many reasons to be happy for what happened this season.
