Julio Baptista is finding it difficult to understand why he isn’t playing for Roma, according to his agent Herminio Menendez.

The Brazil international has hardly featured since Claudio Ranieri’s arrival despite being a favourite among the club’s fans.

Speaking to romagiallorossa.com, Menendez said: “This is a big problem, but it is a mystery to us as to why this is the case.

“Julio is a very good player. He didn’t play very much at the start of the season because he was injured, but he has since recovered, so I do not know why he is not playing right now.â€

SENSI OPEN TO ROMA OFFERS


Roma president Rosella Sensi is willing to consider offers to sell the Serie A outfit provided the potential investors have the club's best interests at heart. The three-time Italian champions have long been the subject of interest from a number of potential suitors. Billionaire financier George Soros walked away from talks last year while the club denied this summer they had agreed to sell around 67% of the shares to a Swiss consortium for 201million euros.

"We are always available and ready to listen to those who present a serious project and who have the intention to do well for Roma," said Sensi in an interview with Guerin Sportivo. "So far, those things have not happened."

Roma fans demanded fresh investment after the team finished sixth last season, missing out on qualification for the Champions League, and were excited about the possible takeover.

"It's incredible how much weight has been given to unfounded rumours, even after we openly denied them," added Sensi. "Roma fans are fantastic but they just have to focus on supporting the team without giving importance to speculation. A football team needs a united atmosphere to bring out its best."

Roma have struggled to make an impact this season, with poor results at the start of the campaign leading to the departure of coach Luciano Spalletti. Since the arrival of Claudio Ranieri, the team appear to have left behind their troubles.

"I think Spalletti didn't have any motivation left in him," said Sensi. "Ranieri has done a very positive job so far. I think he has struck the right notes to help the players rediscover their motivation. He has shown personality and attachment to this jersey."

Roma lie 13th in the standings, six points behind Fiorentina, who hold the last Champions League qualifying spot.

Former Roma President Dino Viola's wife died today. I'm not sure how I should feel about this death. I celebrated the death of Dino Viola and Nils Liedholm. Do I blame the wife for her fuckhead husband's mistakes in tearing down Roma after it was built up in the early 80's? Should I damn her in her grave along with her husband for sending Ago Di Bartolomei to Milan with that Swedish fuck Liedholm....Il Barone my ass. Fuck him and his whole fucking family. I hope he is burning in hell and the devil is sticking a hot needles over his entire body and a hot poker up his ass for bloody eternity.

I think I am correct in saying that she was also president herself for a little while after Viola died and before Ciaruppico took over.

I thought Dino Viola and Nils Liedholm were popular figures at Roma.

she was. she was acting president for the remainder of the 1991 season, as the italian report italiamia posted also states. those two were very popular figures particulalry because of the '82 scudetto but i think their legacy was tainted for some because they were responsible for di bartolomei's transfer to milan in '85 (?).

Gio, I didn't like seeing Di Bartolomei and Liedholm leaving Roma any more than you did.

You know my circumstances at the time, living in the south of England and relying on the patchy information available in those pre satellite/cable/'net days...I assumed they had been made offers by Milan they couldn't refuse. It's easy for me to say I don't harbour as much grudge against those responsible, as I was far removed from the circumstances in point, whereas you were either personally or via relatives always able to be reliably informed.

Obviously I was well aware of Viola though not of the finer points of many of his activities. I too remember Flora Viola being "caretaker" presidente in 1991 until Giuseppe Ciarrapico 1991–1993, the one who was investigated and later imprisoned. Ciro Di Martino is the puzzling name to me before Franco Sensi came in...for whatever reason I don't really remember him.

Deini, yes, the original offer of €240mil as Romagiallorossa told us of was always going to be too low.

La Famiglia Sensi are looking for someone to get as close to the full size of the Italpetroli debt as possible and they won't be interested in even the €300mil UniCredit are speaking about. We have to hope that firstly, Mediobanca and Unicredit can force the Sensi family to accept less than the full size of debt and that secondly, the figure arrived at does not put Angelini off.

There is the third alternative, again from Romagiallorossa, that Mediobanca can produce another buyer which has not yet been done.

Gio & 'Tec...I'm sure you also remember (maybe not you 'Tec) that's exactly what Franco Baresi did! That's why Sacchi's grande Milan could work their offside trap so well, amongst other things, they had Franco to keep it going, so completely well organised! I remember Ruud Gullit once saying he and Van Basten never needed to help defend because in Franco's hands, it all worked so well!

Gio, I've met people who were a bit like Ago. Entertainers, introverted in private yet in public, just as with him, toally composed and fully confident.
