Erano vecchie, usurate e decolorate e per questo riconoscibili le palline che venivano usate per i sorteggi arbitrali, in particolare nella stagione 2004-2005. E' quanto ha detto Manfredi Martino, all'epoca segretario della Commissione arbitrale nazionale (Can), ascoltato oggi come teste alla nuova udienza di Calciopoli in corso davanti ai giudici della nona sezione penale del Tribunale di Napoli. All'udienza sono presenti anche un impassibile Luciano Moggi e l'ex designatore arbitrale Paolo Bergamo. Martino, pressato dal pm Narducci, ha parlato poi, in particolare, della partita Milan-Juventus che decise le sorti di quel campionato: "A mia sensazione durante il sorteggio per la scelta dell'arbitro per quella partita qualcosa non andò secondo il verso giusto perchè ci fu uno strano colpo di tosse del designatore Bergamo quando il giornalista incaricato dall'Ussi scelse la pallina gialla degli arbitri". A witness at the Calciopoli trial in Naples has spoken of his belief that balls used to draw referees for games in the 2004-05 season were in fact 'tricked'.

Manfredi Martino, the former secretary to the National Refereeing Commission [CAN] also alleged that former referee designator Paolo Bergamo and Pierluigi Pairetto asked him to put pieces of paper with the names of certain referees into specific balls.

“On two occasions Bergamo and Pairetto told me explicitly to put the names of certain games and the names of certain referees into the balls that were easily recognisable,â€

Davide Santon Storms Away From Inter Training Ground After Latest Exclusion

After exploding on the Italian football scene last season, things have been much tougher lately for Inter starlet Davide Santon. The 18-year-old left back was showered with praise last term by coach Jose Mourinho, who did not hesitate to play him in huge matches against the likes of Manchester United and Milan.

However, things have not been as rosy for the starlet and after his poor performance against Palermo, he has not played a single minute in the Nerazzurri shirt.

He will be left out again for this weekend's clash against Roma after being excluded from the squad list. Around the same time last year the same thing happened to Mario Balotelli, who was repeatedly left out by Mourinho for disciplinary reasons. However, it seems the 19-year-old striker has learned from his mistakes this season as he's now playing more regularly and scoring goals as well.

Santon's entourage isn't happy about the situation, according to Tuttosport, and the player also quickly stormed away from Inter's training ground after knowing he would not take part in the match against Roma.

President Massimo Moratti and transfer guru Marco Branca talked about him briefly yesterday, but the wunderkind's future will only become clearer by the January transfer period. A loan move to a smaller club to get more playing time could be on the cards.

Surprising to see Sniejder on the bench. Don't we have an international break immediately after this game, he is going to get injured anyway so I see no reason for him not playing. I was hoping to see our midfield trio of stankovic,Sneijder and Motta in tandem.

Shit starting line-up and it showed. Muntari, Vieira and Motta were garbage. Balotelli would've been a perfect starter for this game but once again, Mou fails to rotate. I guess we could put a bit of it down to the CL and going to Ukraine but 5 points up approaching the international break is ok.

Sad to see what Roma have become; parking the bus in front of goal and feigning injuries just to get a point. Played exactly like all the relegation candidates do when they come to the San Siro.

If being outplayed means defending with 10 men after being a goal ahead, then yes, we were outplayed. Roma deserved the point don't get me wrong because Inter played like shit. I was surprised to see a team like Roma play like this because it is so unlike them, that too after seeing them under Spaletti. It clearly signifies Raineri's ambitions which I should assume is a mid-table finish rather than finishing 4th.

This is exactly the kind of reaction Mourinho was afraid of after the big win in Kiev. We might as well not have played the first half as we did nothing. Stankovic was invisible (probably tired) and we play like a bunch of headless chickens without Sneijder. Balotelli should have done more when he came one but we again went into a shell after the Eto'os goal in the second half. Roma did well to contain us and we were happy to be contained.Really poor performance.

Mourinho must be really hacked off before he does something as risky as publicly criticising as player to such an extent.

frank - what is so hard to understand about the way roma played? they played exactly how they had to play, in light of their massive injury list, missing 4 key starters on a team with an extremely weak bench, a fragile confidence, one less day of recouperation from european competition and playing an away fixture. why is it roma's fault for playing a smart, hard-fought game? a spalletti team in similar circumstances would have likely lost that game so good on ranieri to instill the right attitude and tactics and even more praise to the players for executing the game plan.

I agree with Frank and your post as well, marco. You deserved the point, but I haven't seen Roma play like this for a very long time. Yes, the injury list was huge and it probably didn't help that ddr went of as well, but it doesn't change the fact that's exactly how you played; everyone, including Bruno Conti behind the ball and while some of those challenges like Stankovics were hard, it was like watching Drogba, Ronaldo and Inzaghi in the same team on some of those tackles. I also don't remember Roma ever taking the ball to the corner flag at the San Siro wasting time, but that happened too.

It was tough not seeing any sort of reaction out of our boys; after Eto'o scored, it looked like we fell asleep.
