Big spending Italians to frustrate Premiershit giants

Juventus are lining up summer deals for Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko and Valencia’s David Villa in a double deal that could cost upwards of €70m. The report in Turin based publication Tuttosport claims that having been buoyed by the upturn in Serie A results following the acquisition of enforcer Felipe Melo from Fiorentina and playmaker Diego from Werder Bremen, the Old Lady will now focus on replacing the ageing David Trezeguet with top quality talent. Both Dzeko and Villa were heavily linked with moves in the summer with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverfekkin'wankscum, Manchester United and Manchester City all mooted as possible destinations.

It is believed that the Juve hierarchy would prefer to follow up on Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko, citing his physicality as a useful resource for the bianconeri’s more solid approach. Having been linked all summer with AC Milan, the 23-year-old opted to sign a new deal and stay on with reigning the Bundesliga champions at the Volkswagen Arena but could well move to Serie A this summer if he continues to consolidate his reputation.

Valencia’s valuation of David Villa could be a possible stumbling block for the bianconeri should they approach the Mestalla outfit with a formal offer, however, with ambitions high and their fans calling for the gap on Inter Milan to be closed, it is not impossible that the Spanish marksman finds himself at Juventus.

There are various rumours that Juve are looking for a right back in January, but nothing very specific or credible at the moment.

We need to sign a younger CB. Cannavaro and Legrottaglie aren't going to last much longer.

I have no idea shield. Caceres looks real good as an RB. I don't really like the pairing of him and Chiellini in the middle. Both are pretty aggressive. As a RB, I would like to see the loan made permanent, but IDK where it stands.

United and Bayern mull Buffon move

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are both mulling moves for Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, according to reports in Italy. Sir tender Alex Ferguson's side have been linked with a string of glove-men in recent weeks, with veteran Dutchman Edwin van der Sar expected to retire at the end of the season.

Schalke stopper Manuel Neuer, Sporting glove-man Rui Patricio, Lazio custodian Fernando Muslera, Bayer Leverkusen 'keeper Rene Adler, Fiorentina shot-stopper Sebastien Frey and CSKA Moscow No.1 Igor Akinfeev are all reportedly on Ferguson's shortlist. The Old Trafford supremo ruled out a move for the latter following Tuesday's Champions League draw with the Russians. But, according to Tuttosport, Italian stalwart Buffon is also on the Red Devils' radar.

The 31-year-old has made more than 200 league appearances for the Old Lady since arriving from Parma in 2001, and reaffirmed his place as one of the world's best goalkeepers this week with a stunning save against Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League. However, the Premiershit champions could face competition for Buffon - who has won 99 caps for Italy - from German giants Bayern Munich.

The Allianz Arena outfit are still to find a long-term successor to legendary custodian Oliver Kahn, with present incumbent Hans Jorg Butt making two mistakes in the 2-0 defeat to Bordeaux on Tuesday to leave the club's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages in serious doubt. And Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness has hinted that the 21-time Bundesliga winners are on the lookout for a top-class stopper. "Butt will continue until the end of the season, then we will buy a great keeper in the summer," he said.

Juve in Mascherano link
Juventus are looking to sign Liverpool’s £30m rated Javier Mascherano, according to Italian reports. Juve Coach Ciro Ferrara is worried over his lack of midfield options and sees the Argentina international captain as the player to lead a charge for the Scudetto. By signing Mascherano, Ferrara feels Juve will be able to challenge champions Inter in the second half of this season. Macherano is also being linked with a move to Barcelona.
