Marco, it didn't take Albe long to shoot some poisoned darts at our medical staff after he'd left us, though in fairness, they deserved it. I wonder just what other bad tastes he feels he has in his mouth over leaving us.

What he thinks and what we surmise are not necessarily the same.


On tomorrow...I'd have said Ranieri might have gone for a "damage limitation" lineup against Udinese but with our weakened backline that won't be so easy. I hope Di Natale doesn't get to act like it's his birthday even if I do want him to maintain his scoring consistency for la nazionale! Hopefully he keeps that for his following games!

I imagine Vučinić will be ripped into again with criticism from many corners.

Yes, that six yard box miss was terrible. But it is so typical of a striker whose goalscoring has dried up, which as we know, happens to the best of them! For what it's worth, I side with Ed on saying Vuci was by no means our worst in the mistakes department. I agree with the Sky Italia commentary team who were of the opinion we have errors by Mexes and Doni to thank for losing those two goals. The unnecessary sandwich forming challenge by Mexes to concede the free kick which led to Flores' first goal, and Doni not getting down well enough to stop the second Flores goal.

What makes the Udinese defeat harder to take for me is how uninspiring they were in this game. Certainly, Flores deserves credit, as does Sanchez and Handanovic. I'll add this...those who would crucify Vuci might want to watch a re-run of this game to assess in form striker Di Natale by comparison. He could have scored three goals, one a dead cert! Yet he got nothing...

So, what next? De Rossi's yellow card means he misses the Bologna game on Sunday along with our growing injuries list.

Pizarro, Riise, Tonetto, Burdisso, Cerci, and Totti all missing. Motta too now?


Tommaso, I'm not setting out deliberately to prove you right on thinking I have a completely negative opinion of Doni. I give him credit for forcing Asamoah wide and therefore preventing what looked like a goal. Let's just say I'd like to see Julio Sergio fit again...

Further to Ed's above post...so Ranieri has ordered the squad into immediate retiro in Trigoria for an intensive workout. I'm not certain I think confining them to barracks is necessary, yet clearly he thinks the psychological effect of having them there will keep them focused. We will see...

SPALLETTI, SÌ ALLO ZENIT PER 8 MILIONI IN DUE ANNI

(La Gazzetta dello Sport) - Luciano Spalletti è le gato ad un patto di segretezza. Quindi sino a fine novembre non confermerà l’accordo con lo Zenit San Pietroburgo. Ma il tecnico toscano in quel blitz del 1˚ ottobre ha preso più di un impegno con il club russo tanto caro a Putin. Emergono anche i dettagli del contratto già sottoscritto. All’ex tecnico della Roma (dimessosi dopo il patatrac interno con la Juventus alla seconda giornata) andranno 4 milioni di euro netti a stagione sino al 2011. Ma c’è anche l’opzione per il terzo anno.

Lo smarcamento Insomma 8 milioni sono già in cassaforte e ciò spiega anche la tempistica delle sue mosse: smarcarsi dal bollente ambiente giallorosso prima che la stagione entrasse nel vivo e restare alla finestra prima della ripresa del campionato russo ai primi del 2010. Quindi le sirene dell’Atletico Madrid o del Milan (senza parlare del Real Madrid in queste ore) resteranno inascoltate.

La clausola Luciano Spalletti sta preparando le valigie, anche se da San Pietroburgo filtra una voce che potrebbe por re dei distinguo in questa vicenda. Secondo questa versione, infatti, Spalletti si sarebbe cautelato con una clausola che gli permetterebbe di liberarsi dall’impegno se lo Zenit non si qualificasse per la Champions League. La rincorsa Nel frattempo la squadra è risalita in maniera significativa, tanto è vero che ora è al terzo posto con 47 punti dietro le irraggiungibili Rubin (53) e Spartak Mosca (52). E’ vero che alle spalle dello Zenit s’affollano l’FK Mosca (44), il Cska (43) e la Lokomotiv (42), ma sono ormai sono solo 4 le giornate da disputare. Il 29 novembre il campionato finisce e a San Pietroburgo potranno ufficialmente illustrare i programmi per l’anno nuovo. Ricordiamo che da quest’estate a San Pietroburgo gioca l’ex torinista Rosina che sembra essersi ben inserito nel nuovo club.

Il mercato Occhio ora ai desideri di Spalletti. C’è da star certi che Spalletti farà le sue richieste. Soprattutto se lo Zenit arriverà davvero al terzo posto. In tal caso il club russo acquisirebbe il diritto per il turno preliminare dell’edizione 2010-2011 della Champions League. Ma è chiaro che i rinforzi serviranno subito alle liste invernali, ricordando che in Russia chiudono addirittura a marzo. Nelle scorse settimane erano stati fatti i nomi di Perrotta e Pizarro, in scadenza di contratto: evidentemente due pupilli di Spalletti. Ma anche Claudio Ranieri punta su di loro. Stiamo a vedere.
