Well, today vs Man Utd, he's only got 2 Englishmen in the first team and that probably won't do him any harm in getting the Inter job.

I do not want Rafa here. I don't care if he won a champions league. Jose has done so too, at a club thats smaller than Liverfekkin'wankscum. We need to give Jose time. I have no doubt that he'd get us through the group, but to challenge for the champions league, we need more wc players and time. We all know this. Whoever was to take charge of this team will find it hard to challenge for the most prestigious club competition in the world.

Inter miss their marvellous munchkin

When a struggling side come visiting you want to put them to the sword before half-time and then inflict the coup de grace early on in the second half before deciding to sit back and relax.

However, when you’re forced to remove your best player with the opposition still showing signs of life, then you can run into trouble.

Serie A’s most exciting team at the moment, Sampdoria were home and dry at half-time against Bologna, thanks in part to Antonio Cassano’s spellbinding control of the ball and ability to produce more angles than a pool hustler.

Inter have an equally sublime operator in Wesley Sneijder, but with the score at 2-0 heading into the final quarter of the game against Catania, Jose Mourinho was forced to substitute the Dutchman, who was feeling the slight pull of a warm shower (although he claimed it was a muscle).

Without the attacking midfielder’s deft touches and jack-in-the-box ability to pop up just about anywhere, Inter forgot how to keep possession and once again the San Siro had to suffer a nervy finale as Catania clawed a goal back.

With Sneijder on the pitch the Sicilians had hardly seen a sniff of the ball; no wonder Inter have won each of the seven league games in which the former Real Madrid man has played. What Real were doing selling him in the first place is anyone’s guess but it is Spain’s loss and Italian football’s gain.

Sneijder may not have Cassano’s rapier-like dribbling ability but like the Samp man he loves the ball at his feet and inevitably the crowd on theirs. What else would you expect from someone who came through the Ajax academy?

He may be a munchkin in Inter’s land of the giants but size doesn’t matter when you possess flair, technique and a nasty little streak that ensures no one is going to take you for granted. Ask Argentina’s boss.

The truth is that talent comes out on top just about every time so while Mourinho was forced to keep the creaking Patrick Vieira and huffing-and-puffing Sulley Muntari on the pitch, earlier on Saturday evening Gigi del Neri was giving Cassano the keys to the Ferrari and telling him to let it rip.

The Bari ball-wizard could easily have come off at half-time, having set up two and played a part in another goal to leave Samp 4-0 up, but Del Neri knew that his star man would be happiest out on the pitch and not milking the adulation in the stands.

Bologna were down to 10 men and so lacking in direction it’s a wonder they found their way out of the dressing room.

However, they still had to chase Cassano all over the pitch for the full 90 minutes. Whereas, unburdened by not having to shackle Sneijder, Catania could concentrate on passing the ball around and freeing up players to attack in numbers.

Of course, it’s always helpful to have a tractor that’s still running on a full tank after three years and Javier Zanetti is such a machine – playing his 139th consecutive match for Inter at the weekend. Football is certainly a game for all shapes, sizes and but there is something about the slick little model that gets heads turning.

Genoa consider Santon loan

Rumours linking Genoa with the loan of Inter starlet Davide Santon are more than just that, according to Tuttosport.

The 18-year-old was a revelation last season, earning a call up to the Italy squad, but regular first team appearances have been hard to come by in 2009-10.

Santon has made just four appearances for Inter in Serie A and only three of those have come from the start this season.

Tuttosport understands Santon would consider leaving Inter in January albeit only for a short time in order to find the sort of form that would convince Italy Coach Marcello Lippi to take him to the World Cup.

Inter and Genoa have a very strong relationship after doing a lot of business together in the summer.

The Rossoblu sold Diego Milito and Thiago Motta to the Nerazzurri in return for a large amount of money and a number of promising young players.

Zenga looking forward to Inter clash

Palermo Coach Walter Zenga is relishing the chance to beat former team Inter at San Siro on Thursday night.

The Rosanero have won their last three games in Serie A and lie fourth in the table, just seven points behind the Nerazzurri.

Zenga made 328 appearances for Inter between 1977 and 1994. He won the Scudetto once and the UEFA Cup twice while at San Siro.

Stankovic: Inter for life

A rejuvenated Dejan Stankovic says he now intends to finish his career with Inter after proving himself indispensable to the team.

The 31-year-old Serbia international looked close to leaving the Nerazzurri last summer, but won over Jose Mourinho with a series of great performances.

He will make his 300th appearance for Inter when they play Palermo in Serie A on Thursday night.

“I am ready to pass this milestone, and I am happy, even if it means to say that the years are passing,â€

Sneijder won't recover in time for Kiev so that's one foot out the door. He and Motta are already starting to annoy me with the amount of times they've been injured in 13 games of football. I think between them it's been 5 different injuries so far.

Sneijder has always been injury prone. Even at his time with Real. tbh, I don't know about Motta's history, but its not convincing. It seems as though Zanetti, Dejan and Cesar are the only players that aern't prone to injury, which makes for a really weak team.

Didn't watch the match (work), but not happy about conceding 3 goals though. How did we play for those who watched it?

What a game. Credit to Palermo for making a match of it after being 4-0 down at half time, some great substitutions by Zenga. I guess Santon is still rusty from not playing continuously, we were caught out continuously with the diagonal crosses.

Balotelli was excellent, though I did not like the way he had to be dragged back by Zanetti for the first penalty. He still needs to understand that the team comes first and then all the personal glory. Good to see Milito and Motta back. They do a whole lot of good to our one touch football especially Milito.

Hopefully Eto'os injury is not a big one and he should be back before Dynamo Kiev. If Balotelli is fit and in this form he should start against Livorno. Maicon needs to be rested in the next game at least for one half as Mourinho has rested all the others in the back 4.
