Arrigo Sacchi: Inter's Lack Of Technique In Midfield Could Mean European Failure

There are a number of things preventing the Nerazzurri from flourishing in the Champions League according to the former Italy coach, namely too muscular a midfield and too negative a mindset...

Former Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has expressed concern over Inter's midfield, claiming it lacks technique and that it could lead to failure in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri meet Rubin Kazan on Tuesday night, but injuries, coupled with a disappointing European record in recent years, have brought about a lack of confidence from some pundits.

"When Inter find the enthusiasm of years gone by, as well as a less muscular and more technical midfield, then the project will work," Sacchi told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"At the moment there is a state of learning and research - it makes things more uncertain."

Inter are favourites to beat Rubin, but Sacchi is not so sure.

"The game should be okay for Inter they have more quality, but they are without Thiago Motta and Wesley Sneijder," he said.

"Furthermore, fear is the idiosyncratic attitude the Nerazzurri have in this competition."
