Yes, I think there are more consensuses forming about things now.

We also have to acknowledge that Perrotta's limitations - I think he is much more limited than you, in fact, his weak technique makes him a very unusal player to find in Serie A - were minimised by Spalletti's tactical innovation of switching him from a defensive midfielder to an attacking one, who played just behind Totti. In that tactic, Perrotta worked very well, but that is the only position he has ever excelled in at Roma. He was undoubtedly the biggest loser out of the tactical adjustment which Spalletti made this summer. It is no coincidence we would have sold him if we could and we have no intention of renewing his contract, despite his strong desire to stay.

Yes, Giacomo. Clearly my position on players like Baptista and Perrotta has changed drastically over the past 15 months. We will have to agree to disagree on Perrotta, on the other hand. I wonder what you thought of him when he was at Chievo and playing in a much deeper, more creative role there or, at times, narrow down the left? He's technically a very competent midfielder; he's not, on the other hand, anywhere near as technically gifted as your conventional attacking midfielder.

I only remember him playing for Italy before he came to us, and even then I don't rceall much. Why do you say he is technically very competent? It seems to me that most of the time he will control the ball and then make an easy pass, like he did against Siena several times. I don't see any future for Perrotta at Roma. If he does have one, then our prospects will be as limited as him.

I know I sound harsh, but I have thought this summer 2008, when I would have sold him. I think his role has to be reduced significantly if we are to improve.

Not only this season is gonna be though but it may be the end of that Roma. How long u expect somt players like Vucinic, Mexes and others to take this shit? No matter how much they love the shirt, they'll be willing to start a new adventure if those rumours are true.

I wasn't joking when I said the other evening on the Shoutbox it just gets harder to post something constructive in these times.

The stories of the wages, the psychological problems, Ranieri telling Totti he must change his style...hardly encouraging stuff.

The strange thing is somehow or other I have the feeling we can get a 2-1 win this evening. La Viola are hit and miss performance wise, and they have proved more than once they can lack the killer thrust which makes the difference.

Vargas may or may not play, we will find out soon enough. I hope not! If this game was in Firenze I'd go for Fiore, but we will just shade it as long as we can muzzle Jovetic! Maybe we should also hope for Mutu thinking about his fine and for Gilardino having an off-night. :roll:

Also I wouldn't completely discount the fact it's been 17 years since a Fiorentina win in l'Olimpico as not having any effect on the outcome...
