Zanetti did pretty well in midfield against Milan. I thought he wouldn't be able to fit into our new midfield with the one-two passing but he was good. He also allows Maicon to roam freely without the worry of tracking back to defend. If he plays he should play in midfield.

He was good because of the people around him; Sneijder, Stankovic and Motta were doing all the passing forward and creating play while all he had to do was play the obvious pass, retrieve balls and cover Maicon which he was great at on the night. The problem comes when there's no Motta or Sneijder and we're forced to go with Stankovic, Muntari, Vieira and Zanetti in the midfield and we have no real dribblers or creativity there.

Mou is going to have a good problem when Cambiasso returns in a couple of weeks; who is he going to leave out of the midfield? Sneijder is guaranteed his position and you'd think Motta is as well. Cambiasso will play the CDM position and then you have either Stankovic, Muntari, Vieria or Zanetti for the last spot and based on the derby, Stankovic should be picked ahead of all of them.

Inter appoint firm to eye new stadium options

MILAN - Italian champions Inter Milan have asked the Sports Investment Group to look at options for a new stadium which could hold 60,000 fans and be ready for 2014.

"We are working for a home for Inter with an eye on the club's past and a nod to the future with lots of technology and multimedia," project manager Nicholos Gancikoff told Monday's Gazzetta dello Sport.

IMO our ideal midfield lineup should have Cambiasso in front of the defence, Motta centre-left, Stankovic centre-right and Sneijder on top. You have the right mix of technique, off the ball movement and also cover for the defence, since Cambiasso, Motta & Stankovic, even though they're not pure defensive midfielders, do guarantee a very good work rate. Sneijder does track back often too, so I really see that as a very good mix.
Now that Cambiasso is still injured, Zanetti should occupy Stankovic's place as centre-right midfielder though. I'm curious to see whether Mou will be able to keep Zanetti on the bench IF we manage to have a full squad...

I think he'll move him to left back which means Chivu AND Santon will be on the bench. I like how Ciro already has the balls to leave DP on the bench and won't guarantee a position for him even though he's the fan favorite and captain. How much longer will it be before Cambiasso is back? 2 weeks?

Ibrahimovic told to expect hot reception at Inter

Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic can expect a hot reception from his former Inter Milan team-mates when the sides clash in the Champions League next Wednesday, according to winger Mancini. Ibrahimovic claimed earlier this week he was expecting a good reaction on his return to the San Siro because "before my arrival they had not won anything for 17 years".

However, Mancini believes the Swede should not try to take all the credit for Inter's resurgence.

"He has done important things with us and won three Scudetti but his remarks struck me as a bit provocative and exaggerated," Mancini said in Corriere dello Sport.

"Everyone is entitled to his own opinion and we need to respect that but it's not like he says. Inter have existed for 100 years and had won trophies before his arrival."

Mancini struggled to hold down a place in the Inter team following his move from Roma last summer, and he revealed a return to the Italian capital was an option this summer.

"I spoke to (Inter boss Jose) Mourinho and he told me he didn't want me to leave," said the 29-year-old. "But someone from Roma did approach my agent during the last days of the transfer window.

"I now hope to have a different season than last year. I am eager to prove a point and go back to being the Mancini you all know. It's the beginning of a new life for me."

Ultimately, I too believe they’ll be jeering him. I don’t believe these people are capable of having any classy attitude whatsoever. They’re just a bunch of idiots. I will never forget the shame that they brought on this club and on it’s true fans that day against Milan in the CL, when they started throwing flares to stop the game. That is a humiliation that no 4-0 can cancel. Much bigger than the 6-0 humiliation. I hope this new stadium gets up and running asap, cause this should start to reduce this kind of organized ‘hooligans’, since no one will have the option to chose his seat (they ‘should’ be scattered randomly) and as it is today, they will never benefit from free yearly tickets (they currently blackmail the club to have these free tickets).
With regards to the banner, I have no idea what they have in mind, but I believe that the word ‘mercenary’ will be included somewhere..

Defender Cristian Zapata To Join Inter Next Summer?

Rumours are rife that the Udinese stopper could join the Nerazzurri...

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Udinese defender Cristian Zapata could find himself at a new club next season, with interest arising from Italian giants Inter for his services.

The website claims that Inter coach Jose Mourinho has been closely following the Colombian international, and would like to have the 23-year-old central stopper as a part of his team.

Inter have allegedly offered Udinese €13million, but the Bianconeri are seeking at least €16million for the young defender.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the services of Zapata, and have been monitoring his progress for some time.
