Marcello Lippi is planning a 4-4-2 system for the trip to Georgia and explains why heÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s favouring Juventus for his Azzurri picks.

The Coach has called up eight Bianconeri players for the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria, including new arrival Fabio Grosso.

I would rather have Criscito or Grosso play LM instead of Marchionni. Criscito often plays LM for Genoa, not to mention Marchioni isn't the most physical of players when it comes to playing defense.

it will be interesting to see pirlo in a flat 4 midfield. i don't think its a role he would excel in.

You know, I've personally never been that bothered about which club a player is called from by the Azzurri CT as long as he calls the best available to him or perhaps I should say the best available to fit within his preferred formation at any given point.

I'm a lot more bothered about the fact we could well be taking Amauri to Sth Africa. It seems, going by today's news, that his passport won't be approved until late October/early November which means he cannot be called for our last qualifiers. We've all here been through the pros and cons of Amauri. The galling part of it is that we may have to take him because he may be one of our better scoring options whether we like it or not!

In the meantime Lippi laments the media and fans are not paying any real attention to our two upcoming games...

Just wondering Lomba.. How many other wingers do you know of that can play on the left side of a 4-4-2? Other than maybe Foggia, who didnt have as good a season as Marchionni.
