The Queen Bitch has spoken (or should I say read out) her views on Ranieri and our highly successful mercato:

Giovanni won't be disappointed to hear she brought up her fathers name once again, as it was Franco often mentioned him (Ranieri) and so this was the basis for his appointment. She had this to say on our merato:

"We studied our transfer policy, but did not achieve all our objectives. We brought back some youngsters who were on loan. Burdisso and [Marco] Motta were signed, but I know I can never make the fans entirely happy. I am proud that the club is able to finance itself and I am not convinced I have done such a bad job. Il presidente della Roma, la dottoressa Rosella Sensi, ha introdotto ai molti giornalisti presenti presso la sala stampa del Centro tecnico "Fulvio Bernardini" di Trigoria il nuovo allenatore giallorosso, Claudio Ranieri, ed ha risposto ad un paio di domande riguardanti l'addio di Spalletti e la campagna acquisti estiva.



Questa la breve introduzione della dottoressa Sensi:

"Per me è doveroso in questo momento fare un ringraziamento a mister Luciano Spalletti per quello che ci ha dato e per le emozioni che ci ha fatto vivere. E' stata una sua scelta, dolorosa, ma che abbiamo rispettato e ne abbiamo preso atto. Sono altrettanto felice di presentare il nuovo allenatore della Roma, Claudio Ranieri, il cui nome è stato più volte fatto anche da mio padre e che avrebbe scelto anche lui. Ho continuato a dar retta ai consigli di mio padre, scegliendo la persona che avrebbe scelto lui. Ranieri è un grande professionista che ha lavorato in Italia e all'estero".

Si aspettava la decisione di Spalletti?

"Vorrei concentrare le attenzioni sul nuovo allenatore. Rispetto mister Spalletti ed il nostro rapporto in questi 4 anni. Conoscendo l'uomo non mi aspettavo potesse abbandonare la nave. Rispetto l'uomo e le sue motivazioni. Ha fatto delle scelte ed avrà avuto le sue ragioni. Ringraziando Spalletti, preferirei parlare di Ranieri".

Come giudica la campagna acquisti della Roma?

"Una campagna acquisti studiata, anche se non abbiamo centrato tutti gli aspettativi. Sono rientrati dei giovani e questa è una cosa importante, abbiamo riscattato Motta e preso Burdisso. Sicuramente i tifosi non saranno soddisfatti, ma sono convinta di non aver fatto così male. Abbiamo fatto una programmazione in base alle nostre possibilità. Sono dispiaciuta di non aver preso la punta che cercavamo. Prendere qualcuno tanto per prendere non è proficuo ai fini della nostra programmazione, e come ha detto giustamente Spalletti la squadra c'era. Sono sicura però di aver consegnato una buona squadra sia a Spalletti che a Ranieri. Non abbiamo smantellato la squadra, l'ossatura della squadra è rimasta intatta. Non abbiamo venduto nessuno, sono andati via solo Panucci, Aquilani e Montella. Non sono stati ceduti giocatori importanti come è invece accaduto in altre squadre. Sono sicura che questa squadra farà bene e non è una squadra da buttare. Le delusioni dei tifosi le capisco, perché sono anche le mie".

I see they've edited that version. The account I read had something about Rosella saying that the market hadn't been entirely successful, though no-one had been sold - at which point all of the media people assembled muttered "cough, cough, Aquilani, cough, cough." And so Rosella said, "you're interrupting me bitches, I woz gonna say we didn't sell anyone important - just Aquilani and Panucci, but they were shit."
