Why not start Cerci? Like I already said, starting a lightweight like Cerci would of made us even defensively weaker and would of offered little in terms of help preventing the Juventus midfield from dominating. Taddei was supposed to do that but was shite. Spalletti went with a rombo midfield and I can see why, but it didn't work, so be it. I'm blasting Totti because he deserves to be blasted, he was crap, and while Spalletti deserves a lot of the blame too it was not all his fault. We were battered and outplayed by a superior team.

I don't think I need to translate, but I'm glad to see they're not sugar-coating his performance as per usual. I would of given him a four, however.

Spalletti 4,5: Si rimangia gli esperimenti estivi proponendo un rombo con De Rossi alle spalle di Taddei, Pizarro e Perrotta, mai in campo dall’infortunio di luglio. Went with a rombo midfield (of sorts) to combat the threat of the Juventus midfield. Changed to a 4-2-4, and more attacking, much to late.

Will he change the formation or leave Totti alone upfront???That I d like to know. How can he not see that Totti is getting useless up there against big teams??
Shield you say he is still having a few seasons left but let me disagree with you. I am not saying he wont be able to play for Roma anymore but I don't think we can even expect a place in the top 4 with him only forward. If we continue to expect him to do all the job, then we'll be in serious trouble soon enough I am sure. He s good enough to make a difference agaisnt low-tier teams but not against the ones like Fiorentina, Genoa, Milan and Juve...and certainly not for 90 minutes.
It is quite easy to see. Although I'd like to be wrong but the next few games will "talk".

The point is Edzo we lost the game and no amount of explanation will change that fact. But I knew we lost even before the game started. Yes, I say it again: Why not start Cerci? That starting lineup was a blunder by Spalletti and it cost us this game because the man will not change. Go ahead an blame Totti. He played a bad game. But with no support, he was harassed and fouled time and again because nobody on that pitch today was a threat to rubentus. Nobody. Ciro Ferrara had to be laughing his ass off at that line up. Spalletti was the best assistant coach Ferrara had today.
