I don't know what he sees in Real that he wants to stay.He is a guaranteed bench warmer for them this season and is being kicked out literally but still doesn't want to leave.I can't fucking believe it.

Wesley Sneijder has been strongly linked with football away from Real Madrid after dropping down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Inter have been credited with an interest in Sneijder, with reports indicating the Italian champions have agreed a €15 million deal with their Spanish counterparts for the Holland international.

However, the player's agent, Soren Lerby, has declared that the prospect of moving to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza does not appeal to the Dutch star.

"Sneijder is a player of Real Madrid and he wants to stay here," he told AS.

According to the latest reports in Spain, the Real Madrid board have told Sneijder he is surplus to requirements at the club, and they could even make the 25-year-old train separately from the first team.

I don't know, Cajun - everyone gets pissed off with a player when he forces a club to sell him despite his having signed a contract with them and then when it's the club trying to force a player to leave, despite having signed a contract with him, that's the player's fault too?

My annoyance is purely from a spectators point of view, Mary. It never used to be like this, though; when players weren't wanted, they up and left but now they'd rather just do the training and pick up the pay, maybe getting a game or two here and there. A contract is a contract and that's the bottom line, basically.

I just think the clubs have to have a bit more respect for the contracts they sign, too. They paid big money for Sneijder last summer and implicit in that transfer was surely an intention to make him a big part of the club's project. He moved city, perhaps bought a house and then a new president comes in and decides he wants to make a few new marquis signings. Sneijder's a good enough player to think he should be able to get a run in pretty much any team. I wouldn't blame him if he stood up to the club and told them to treat him with a bit of respect. Equally, of course, I wouldn't blame him if he thought Inter was another good option and wanted to go there. I just think clubs tend to want to have it both ways.

MILAN, 22 August 2009 - "A prediction about the next World Cup? It's hard, there are 5 or 6 teams that could win it. A little like Serie A: Inter, Juve, Milan, Roma, Fiorentina and Palermo. If you put it like this, it shows that you don't want any one team to win..." Josè Mourinho fired another shot at Marcello Lippi in their tit for tat exchange that has been going on for several days now. It all started with the national coach's prediction, when he said on Monday that Juventus would win the championship. Inter's coach said that Lippi's comment showed "a lack of respect": "The best team almost always wins the championship. I'm not a manager in Portugal. I'm a coach who has credibility and prestige in my country, but I don't have any responsibility for football at the national level. If I was asked to make a prediction in my country, I would do it," said Mourinho on the eve of the first match of the championship against Bari. "The two South American teams and two or three European teams will be vying for the World Cup. It's being played in Africa, so maybe an African team might cause an upset or two," he added.

"I LIKE IT HERE" — "Saying that you favour a team is one thing; making an explicit statement is another," he added, referring to the direct answer Lippi gave to the question "who will win the championship?". "But if Lippi says the matter is closed, then so it is for me," the Portuguese manager reiterated. "I expressed my opinion as I'm entitled to do, and immediately I heard the sound of my enemies. I like it: I said something and now everybody's chiming in. I like it here, otherwise I would not have signed a contract until 2012," he said, referring to the recent contract extension.

SPALLETTI — "Your friend Spalletti should remember that he did not show me any respect at a press conference. He should stick to his job, because with his team he could win everything. He has a fantastic team." Josè Mourinho also fired a shot at Luciano Spalletti, Roma's manager. The Giallorossi's coach recently said that the famous "zero tituli" (no titles) comment made by Mourinho last year referring to Milan and Roma showed a lack of respect, given that the team from the capital was still in the running in the Champions League.

THE TEAM — "We are a team that has no excuses. We are an almost 50% new team, and we're still getting used to each other. We are playing a better style of game compared to last year, but to be the Inter than we want to be, we're still lacking a player." No excuses and no attacking midfielder: that's the Inter side that Josè Mourinho will send out onto the pitch tomorrow against Bari, in the first round of the Serie A championship. "Without the attacking midfielder, we only have Stankovic who can fulfil that role. If Stankovic is out, we can't field the same formation," said the Special One. "Compared to last year we have a much nicer style of play. We have a lot of quality, but during the year there will come a time when we will have to play ugly football to win: we'll have to defend ourselves against opponents who will put us under pressure at San Siro. I have only seen Juventus and Milan in the matches played against us this summer. We played Milan in the United States - it was almost a training session: we played well but it didn't mean much. Then we met them again in the Tim Trophy, when both teams were missing a lot of players. We played 45 miuntes against Juve, and from what I saw I thought Inter played better."

BARI — Inter open their championship against a newly-promoted team. "I don't like starting the season against a team that has come up from Serie B, because a newly-promoted side comes with a winning mentality. If they come to San Siro with 5,000 fans, they won't be coming here to lose. It's different facing a team that managed to stay in Serie A last year," said Mourinho.

CASSANO — The Special One resopnded to Cassano's wry comment ("I'm the only thing Mourinho and Lippi agree on - neither of them wants me") with a wry comment of his own: "I don't want players who score against us," he said. "Acquafresca scored against us and he's not here, Milito didn't and he is. I like Antonio, but when he scored against us that was that." Getting serious again, Mourinho reminded those asking if Cassano could be the attacking midfielder the Nerazzurri lack that "this year he's playing as a striker, but we'll see. Even if he has scored against us."
