it's looking more and more like a certainty with respect to burdisso coming to roma. his agent claims that they are in the stretch run and may even be in rome by the evening. it looks like the deal will be baptista to inter for burdisso and suazo. the suazo part of the transfer looks like it may be deferred until next week as they are apparently still trying to firm up salary arrangements.

that would seem like a reasonable request since playing for la maglia giallorossa is significant enough compensation on its own.

i'm now hearing on retesport that andreolli may end up being part of the deal. not sure if it would be an outright swap, co-ownership or other convoluted scenario.

As Ed says, forget Soccerates, he's yesterday's man despite the fact he has an XFF mk2 in the making...he is an investigator for Welfare benefits fraud with delusions of grandeur! I know it's already been brought up in the "Den" but Sky Sports Italia are talking this evening of how we hope to rush through the Burdisso transfer in time for him to play for us against Genoa. But they're not mentioning Andreolli or Baptista. We will have to wait and see...

shield - i heard it on retesport (roman radio station) and it looks like there is now some speculation of andreolli being part of the deal on romanews too:

that would seem odd on our management's part (not really) considering there was talk of burdisso being able to terminate his contract (buyout, i guess) and roma would not have to compensate inter at all. only problem with that, that i can surmise, is that inter will not do us any favours for any other transaction(s), namely the one involving baptista. given that baptista is clearly the sacrificial lamb to initiate our mercato and that inter seem to be the only team baptista is considering a move to (and inter being the only team that looks serious about getting him), it looks like our management's hands could be tied on the burdisso situation. also, if i remember correctly, inter 'helped' us on both the chivu and mancini deals where i recall both players were in a similar situation and could have bought out their respective contracts and dealt directly with inter without any compensation for roma.

Marco, yes, it seems Inter don't want to tear up the Burdisso contract and he himself wants a permanent move, not a loan deal.

There's no way out of this without costing ourselves something if we want Burdisso and il mister clearly does!

Gio, given our players' uncanny knack for picking up injuries I'd say Burdisso has no fears on getting playing time!

The Suazo part of the deal interests me. We all know what he did for Cagliari and hasn't since leaving really had the chance to repeat. Coming to Roma might do us both a big favour if it happens. It might revive Esposito(presuming he is staying with us) too as they worked well enough together back then.


Baptista? It had to be either him or Cicinho being sold to give us cash to work with...

How so, Giacomo? Had Suazo come two years ago, I think he'd have been an outstanding addition. That he ditched us for Inter and that he's coming off two ordinary seasons without a lot of form leaves me much more luke-warm but his combination of pace and power would surely suit us. I guess you're saying he only works in teams who play on the counter, but I tend to think that's unfair on him.
