I said last summer I firmly believe that it's common practice for football clubs in our financial position to feign interest in players during the transfer market just to appease the fans. The fact that someone on our management team spoke to José Alberti and not Tullio Tinti, Luca Toni's bona fide agent doesn't do anything to change my opinion.

The alternative is unfortunately no better...the majority of tifosi giallorossi didn't react kindly to the news that there's no money and we had to sacrifice someone just to keep things going, for all its honesty. So it's more mind games and if we are fortunate, a last minute bargain basement deal...again!

I'm quite out of touch. Apparently we were playing a friendly today against Al Shabab, who are managed by our former player Toninho Cerezo. It was a closed-doors game played in Trigoria.

Strange as hell. The cover picture for the "affari conclusi" section (completed transfers) is Julio Baptista but when you scroll down, there is no indication that he has been sold. Why the hell make his poc the cover????

right now yes a injury prone player for a player who doesnt stop playing great football.

I think there's too much symbolism at stake, wkd. From a purely footballing/economic perspective, of course you'd take Messi who has almost his whole career still ahead of him. It would come at too much of a cost, though - much of what Roma is and means inheres in the fact that Totti will have played his whole career at the club, resisting the overtures of other clubs able to offer more money and more glittering prizes. He is a symbol of something which exceeds money and pragmatics. Watching Totti play in any maglia other than Roma's or the Azzurri's would be unbearable.

I wouldn't take him, wkd - precisely because I don't think it'd be for the good of the club. We would gain something important but we would lose something much more important - to my mind, at least.

I think it would be the wrong choice for the club too. Totti is untouchable. He has always been and will always be worth far more to Roma (and Rome) than to any other club.

For me having home grown talents is great but i dont have the love you guys do for them. I think that there should be a age limit on the squad where we let go of players over the age of 30. I'm more interested in young players and for me during the injury crisis i was hoping that the coach would give the youngsters a run. but that didnt happen.
