At least there's a bit of believable substance to a Cicinho move. When I saw that Spalletti to Zenit junk headliner yesterday I didn't even bother to read the article. I'm not at all surprised to see it rubbished today.

btw, Tuna, you want that handle dropped now as you have a new UT? We can't really call you Roma and since we know you are Arabic and not Farengi, Rom is out of the question...

If selling Cicinho and Baptista meant that we could actually go out and fill some holes with Jonas Gutierrez and Negredo I can't say that I'd be against it.

Anyone that uses Taddei's preseason goals as an indication that he is a good enough starter may want to look at the fact that we've been playing sub-par teams and the goals have been mostly tap-ins.

I'm not blind to Vince's opinion of Cicinho, it's the old argument that as he adds a good attacking option to our play, and it is a good option, then can't somebody cover for him when he attacks? The trouble of course is they didn't do it very well...until Motta arrived and then we did see Cicinho on the right wing a couple of times.

He must have either accepted Spalletti's orders or if not, is possibly going to compete with Motta over playing as right wing back.

Or he is possibly going to move on...

Losing anymore players would be a complete disaster. We've all said that we'd all be content if we didn't sell or buy any new players at all, but that didn't happen, but now its almost come to the stage were we'd be content not to lose anymore even if it means we didn't bring anyone new in.

Spalletti must be getting tired of saying we need a new prima-punta, but we can't even follow through and sign one of the meager pathetic targets we have been linked too like Cruz, Borriello, Pavlyuchenko or Negredo (Real say they will only sell, not loan, him), and no one else of any sort of quality looks likely to come. And we still want to sell Menez or Baptista. Its a sham. And surely our management has the sense not to be willing to let Menez join our rivals Inter and further strengthen them. Surely they're not that stupid. Oh wait don't answer that.

Oh and are saying Juan is injured again (even though he played 90 minutes for Brazil midweek) and will be out for about 10 days, which means he would miss the Europa league qualifying next week and also the season opener next weekend, which leaves us desperately short at the back (with Mexes and Andreolli only returning to training). Any sign of a new centre-half arriving, aside from Burdisso? Anyone? What if Inter insist they will only give him to us as part of a Menez deal, or if Mourinho comes out and says he's not leaving, what other options are there? None? Or a new Loria arriving? We are a complete mess and I wouldn't blame Spalletti if he jumped ship to Russia right now.

That report about Juan playing was wrong, he didn't play after all. If he does not recover by next weekend, I think it'll be Andreolli and Riise or Cassetti in central defence. Mexes is suspended.

I forgot Mexes was suspended. It goes to further highlight much a new centre-half is needed, anyway, with Mexes' temperament and Juan's ever-lasting injury problems. It looks like it won't be Diego Lugano anyway, if report is to believed, much to Fonz's disappointment. He is due to fly into Rome tomorrow to sign for his new club (or perhaps its not Lazio...?).

Looks like Lugano won't be coming to Rome at all after he decided to renew his contract with Fenerbahce.

Cicinho wants Brazil return and not Barca

Roma right-back Cicinho insists that while he is flattered by Barcelona's reported interest, he is seeking a return to Brazil. Speculation is rife that Barca are set to make a 10million euro offer for Cicinho, who is under contract at the Giallorossi until 2012. However, the 29-year-old claims he has been looking to move back to Brazil since joining Roma two years ago from Real Madrid.

"I came to know about Barcelona's interest through the press," Cicinho told Globoesporte.com. "No official offer has been made to me. It's normal that I'm happy that a great club like Barca is interested in me. But my own wish at the moment is to return to Brazil. I don't feel happy in Europe and I've been trying to do this for two years, I've also spoken several times to (Sao Paolo president) Juvenal Juvencio, but Roma won't release me."

Cicinho has not ruled out a move to the Nou Camp completely, however. He added: "As I said I have not been contacted at all by Barcelona and I am continuing working hard and dedicating myself to the maximum in Roma. I don't have an agent but a friend who looks after my business. I've not talked to him yet. It's obvious that if Barcelona's offer suits everyone it would make me happy also. At the moment I'm concentrating on rehabilitation and I'm trying not to listen to all the speculation about me."


Curious words from Cici, "I've been trying to do this for two years but Roma won't release me." Aba will be devastated. He's not important so we should let him go, but I doubt we'd get the same money from a South American club as Barca were reported to offer.
