Does anyone else think Negredo is already more of a true Roman than Aquilani will ever be?
A very nice evening indeed. I am sure there will be more 'Dos in the future...
To be honest, with all of these rumors and my being out of touch (having heard about Aquilani's completed transfer on my mobile phone I think), I don't think I'm against getting Burdisso to be our number 3 if its not too expensive. We have to assume Juan will spend some time hurt and Mexes suspended, which makes me suspect that Andreolli will also see a fair number of minutes, if not least in the Uefa Cup.
On the Burdisso/Andreolli thing, I really liked the way this article puts it - though presumably it's too much to imagine our management is thinking in such terms:

(Corriere dello Sport - Edizione Romana)
The ball, it suggests, is now back in Andreolli's court and he needs to think again about his wish to go out on loan. Surely he can see that he's likely to get a run of games with us, even if he's not first choice, so the question is just whether he's got big enough balls to want to take his chances at Roma or wants to skulk off somewhere else where he feels he's 'guaranteed' a starting spot week-in, week-out. At some level, that's his call. I certainly don't get the sense that Spags is pushing him out the door - unless you say that Andreolli's influenced by Spags's tendency in the past not to give young players a chance. Starting Riise at CB in the first game was weird but not, I think, as weird as Andreolli arriving back after the summer declaring at once that the thing he most wants to do is go out on loan.
Fonz, you've taken it to a new level. Presumably your missus would insist that you're only ever available "in comproprieta'", no? Is "mano" in 'italics' because the Pinguino would literally lend a flipper, as the saying presumably ought to go?
8 inches for the moglie, 8 inches for the mistress, and 8 inches for the little boy who lives down the lane? You're sick, you are and have no moral fibre.
Thanks Jam for the recommendations, i'll make sure to visit these places.
Maro, i'll stay there for 5 days, i want to know about everything, where to eat, where to visit? nice nightclubs, shopping, where can i find the mega stores, also cheap nice clothes, is there outlet stores there? everything, i'am very excited, btw, iam now in Barcelona.
Pasta & Pizza, Shield? thats all u've got? even my child who is still to exist knows that!
Apologies Edge, I did mean to give you a proper response but have been hectic in work. Without doubt there are those here who could give you infinitely better advice on the wonders of Rome, but from my experiencing as a relative newcomer (I've been five times) Rome is certainly one of the most easiest European cities to navigate and find your way around, and your in for a treat. The main city centre area (say from the Termini bus station to the Tevere) isn't really that big, which makes it easier to explore. Like Jamil said, as a first-timer its a given you have to visit the touristy sites like the Colosseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, the Trevi etc., (as much as Maro would disapprove), which are all spectacular. After that, just spend hours and days wondering around the different areas which, again, like Jamil said, is really the best part. The usual areas like around Piazza Navona, Spagna, Fiori, Campidoglio, but also just walk section areas like down Corso Emanuele and across the Tevere and, of course, down to Travestere (good market on Sundays), which has all the best restaurants (check out that thread Glad started in off-topic). I would also spend a day going out to the Vatican, taking time to properly see all the Basilica and museums. If your looking for shopping, I don't think there are that many big shopping districts or buildings as such, but a walk up via del Corso all the way to Piazza del Popolo is good and there are loads of good shops there, and keep an eye out for via dei Condotti near the end of that walk, which is where all the rich and famous shop. Via del Corso also has the best Roma shop, at Piazza Colonna.
Oh but clearly, I left out the most important tourist destination. Oh how silly of me. I know you'll want to visit Mirko's gafe, his address is 1927 via del Legends Way, right between Totti's and Conti's. Be warned though, it'll b full of Japs and yanks this time of year though all trying to get a glimse.

Oh how I miss Rome. It's been too long. The missus has been hounding me as to when we're goin back. I was thinking late November for a long weekend but the fixtures are crap around those dates. Tom when you going over? Gonna catch a match?
edzo, I've got two things I have to get written before we start teaching again and it's going to be quite tight so I'll have to wait until they're under control to see if I can make it across. I've been toying with the idea all summer - as a little carrot at the end of a longish work tunnel - but we'll have to see how it goes.
Edge, the Avvocato will tell you to make sure you go and see the mosaics in S. Maria in Trastevere. And I always pick out the two Caravaggio frescoes in S. Maria del Popolo and the Michelangelo Moses in San Pietro in Vincoli. Otherwise, in terms of sites you can't really go wrong. I love the museum in EUR which has the friezes from Trajan's Column - I guess it's called something like the Museo Arcaeologico Nazionale or somesuch and I think 'moldy and diddib have been down there, but it's for those who love their classical stuff especially. And a day trip out to the Villa Adriana near Tivoli is pretty lovely on the same sorts of terms. The statue of the 'dying Gaul' in one of the two museums on the Campidoglio is one of the most extraordinary sculptures there is and the bronze Marcus Aurelius in there is stunning and in a new, beautiful museum space. The Campidoglio's perhaps my favourite spot in Rome - looking out across the forum in the evening I find very moving. Walking up the Janiculum gives you some beautiful views back across the city and you can wander on down from there into Trastevere or on to the Vatican. The Avvocato also always picks out the Villa Borghese which has beautiful gardens above the Piazza del Popolo if you want to have lunch in the grounds and has a fine collection in the Villa itself - a fair bit of Bernini. I've never been into the Villa Farnesina - I assume you can go in - but that's one of the things at the top of the list for the next trip.
And did anyone catch any of the game last night? We had our own friendly on - we were the Grosseto to a side from the league above and we beat the bastards 5-4 after going 3-0 in the first 20 minutes. I can hardly walk today, of course, but it was a good effort. I gather Menez played through the middle and played very well while DDR partnered Cassetti at the back - should we laugh or cry?
I think so, Lomba. It's probably very out of date - and there's another piece on one of the calciomercato sites about Grosso perhaps going to Zenit with Minchio, so I wonder if the paper's recycled the wrong story. On the other hand, one couldn't really blame Spags for walking if he agreed to stay on certain conditions which Rosella's proceeded not to meet.
I was wondering if it was April Fool's Day in Italy - or ir Ferragosto brought with it the same tricks - because there are also reports of Barca interest in Cicinho which strikes me as about as plausible as the Messi-Tonetto straight swap rumours, were there any. I'm not quite sure why Cicinho would go to Barca to sit on the bench and I'm not quite sure why Barca would consider Cicinho any kind of 'alternative' to Dani Alves.
Yeah maybe Maro, but just a week away from the start of the season would be a disaster for you guys..Oh, well it could be a blessing in disguise....Mancini is always available...
Indeed - it'd be calamitous at this point. I, of course, was one of those who thought'd be a disaster if he'd gone at the end of May but now, having sort of kind of set up the squad for the rest of the season it'd be insane.
lol. Which bit's the shock in this: AQUILANI SHOCK: ´ALLA ROMA MI HANNO CURATO MALE´
In fact, the article as a whole doesn't really stand up to the shock-tactics of the headline, but still.
