Frence', I was making some chili for tacos; needless to say, it wasn't the mouth that was on fire yesterday morning and for that I hold you personally responsible (though not in quite the same way Oily holds the guys responsible for any similar suffering of his). I think the mother-in-law brought them back for us the last time she was out in Malaysia, so I guess that means I can pin this one on her too (as it were).

I think the German model is really interesting, though I don't particularly enjoy watching the brand of football they generally play in the Bundesliga. I was surprised no-one was prepared to run with my suggestion that the club introduce a salary cap of about 70,000 euros a year as a way of keeping the costs of tickets down and keeping the players more in touch with the community they represent. I quite like the idea, but then amateur sport is always going to have more going for it than professional sport, right?

I must confess, it's not just work and a brief holiday that's kept me off the forum pages, it's the thought of forcing conversation from rumours and supposition. Then there's the depressing if not unexpected fact, for example, in realising that even getting the chance of Sheva on a Bosman is beyond our magica Roma for the time being because of his demand for £120,000 p/w...I'd have thought he'd have been a little more realistic as regards his wages, having as he does, the need to prove he's not passé!

As for a deal involving Aquilani for Voronin who wants a £2 mil per season contract to join us, I can't see that happening either, any more than I can see the people he currently works for paying £18-20 mil. for our young eagle!

But if I'm to join in all the speculative gossip frequenting our tana dei lupi right now in lieu of solid footballing action then Mediaset's piece re/Cruz caught my attention. It's hardly news, the idea of Julio the gardener becoming available to us, but if he does it will have to be very quickly as our triade appear to have made him an ultimatum that he signs in time for selection in our upcoming EL fixture with the Belgians. I'd venture to suggest if we are going to have to pay a high weekly wage to a goal scorer, perhaps it's better going to a proven Serie A campaigner like Cruz, though judging by majority opinion here, el jardinero may be most effective as a lavatory attendant. I'd rather think along the lines of super sub and occasional starter.

If the deal happens, we'd better hope he meets the positive aspects...
