Mexes plays down Chelsea link
Agent claims no contact between Blues and Roma

Philippe Mexes' agent has played down reports linking the Roma defender with a move to Chelsea. Recent conjecture has suggested Chelsea are lining up a move for the Frenchman as a possible replacement for Inter Milan target Ricardo Carvalho.

New Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is thought to be a big fan of Mexes having tried to sign him while in charge of AC Milan and it has been claimed he could move to try and bring the former Auxerre man to Stamford Bridge. The player's representative, Olivier Joanneaux, insists he has had no contact with Chelsea and that any move would depend on Roma.

"I have seen the rumours linking Philippe with Chelsea, but I have heard nothing," Joanneaux told skysports.com. "No-one from Chelsea has called me and I believe no-one has called Roma." Joanneaux admits Mexes would consider a move to Chelsea, but that Roma will decide the 27-year-old's future.

"Chelsea almost signed Philippe in 2004, but he signed for Roma as he felt this would be best for him at the time," he added. "He would consider a move to Chelsea if they did make an offer as they are a big team, but it all depends on Roma. He has two years left on his contract and Philippe is happy with his situation at Roma. But if Roma decide to sell him we will consider all options available."

Apparently, Andreolli, rather than coming back to Roma, would be sent to Cagliari in exchange for defender Michele Canini 25 yrs old. Andreolli's agent will wait till Monday to talk to management, but he claims that a move to Cagliari would be ideal for Andreolli because he would get playing time there, where they give playing time to "younger players."

Vucinic set to snub Prem interest

Mirko Vucinic's agent says the striker is happy at Roma, despite reported interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The Montenegrin forward has been linked with Premiershit champions United and Spurs this summer.

"There are interests, especially from Premiershit clubs, but no one has officially contacted me," Vucinic's agent Alessandro Lucci told romanews.eu.

Vucinic was Roma's second-top scorer last season behind team captain Francesco Totti with 11 goals. The 25-year-old last month extended his contract with the Eternal City outfit until June 2013.

"Mirko is very happy to remain at Roma," said Lucci. "He recently renewed his contract. He is happy, the club is satisfied and hence, there are no reasons to consider Vucinic away from Roma. The club has never told me anything regarding any offers, but they did tell me they want to keep all the important players and Vucinic is one of them."

Secondo quanto riportato da Sky Sport, il fuoriclasse della Roma sarebbe il primo nome sul taccuino del nuovo manager del Chelsea per rinfozare il centrocampo. L'alternativa al romanista sarebbe il regista del Milan, ben più facile da prendere rispetto a De Rossi, che è stato dichiarato più volte incedibile dalla dirigenza giallorossa.

ROMA - Il mercato della Roma, ormai è noto, è fermo in attesa di sviluppi. In uscita. Un’indicazione nota da tempo è stata confermata sabato dal tecnico in conferenza stampa: la campagna di ‘rafforzamento’ dovrà portare un utile di trenta milioni circa tra liquidità prodotte dalla cessione di giocatori e risparmio sul monte ingaggi. Dopo l’addio di Panucci e Montella (che ha lascito il calcio), il trasferimento in prestito di Loria al Torino e il mancato riscatto di Diamoutene, alcuni stipendi onerosi sono stati ‘tagliati’. Ora, si deve pensare alle cessioni. Tanti i nomi sul taccuino del ds Pradè per fare cassa. Poi, una volta trovati i fondi si penserà a come rinforzare una squadra che fino a questo momento ha visto soltanto l’arrivo di Guberti, prelevato a costo zero. Oltre al riscatto della comproprietà di Motta dall’Udinese e ai rientri di Andreolli, Antunes, Barusso, Cerci, Esposito, Faty, Greco, Okaka, Virga. Unica cessione 'fruttuosa', quella di Alvarez al Bari. Serve un attaccante forte di testa, capace di giocare al fianco di Totti. In questo momento, circolano molti nomi a costo zero. Nel frattempo si pensa anche ad un ‘vice’ Doni, ruolo per il quale Artur continua a non convincere. Da risolvere anche il problema-difesa, dove si cerca un giocatore che sostituisca Panucci. Fino a che le casse non verranno riempite, però, una sola strategia possibile: l'attesa.

I wonder if we'll see Aquilani to Liverpuke, Menez to Marseille, Vooch to somewhere else in England, and Spags to Zenit all in the same week? It's hard not to admire the sacrifices Rosella is prepared to make for the club she loves.

I'd take Gareth Bale on a cut price loan with option to buy deal, sure. He's been hurt and has not shown much (the guy has not played in many games so the never win factor is quite a load of BS). But he's 19 and I would LOVE for us to develop him as a Roman talent just so we can laugh at the English (oh and have a good player). I haven't seen enough of him or Antunes play to compare though.

The thing is that he should have decent pace and will be used to the rough and tumble style of Prem teams which should help us longer term in Europe. I know all of these are very general points but...
