Really fucking hot weather. I'm supertanned. We went to a resort and stayed there for a week with the kids. Could have been anywhere else in the tropics and I wouldn't know the difference. Except for the construction crew near our room kept asking me if I needed marijuana every time I passed by without the family.
-"You need something special mon?
-"No thanks"
-"No problem. One love mon."
Seriously, that's the kind of exchange we would have. Once I was walking by with my son and they asked me.
I would have taken them on the offer but Italiamia wouldn't approve. I guess with my dark complexion and my foot (it's actually 12.44 inches but I round off downwards), they mistook me for one of them.
Actually, in Jamaica the food is quite good for resort fair. I don't mind these all inclusive resorts but I can't wait for the kids to get a little older so that we could do more interesting travelling.

The return to form is because I'm super lethargic at work and so I figured I might as well do something constructive.

What do you think are our chances this year. I'm assuming we will sign Sheva and a central defender (Lugano, Canini or Esposito) and we keep most of the squad as before except maybe we'll offload Baptista. in That case, we'll finish 2nd to 4th.

In the absence of info, I've ventured to the offside blog and .. well ... some of the comments are just so WTF?
One guy came up with a rumor that Chelsea want to offer Essien for Mexes and most people would accept that offer in a heartbeat. because, as one says "Essien is the best midfielder in the world after DDR". I swear if it was up to those offside guys, out lineup would look like this:

I suspect most of them would sit Totti too - keeping him for the important games because he gets injured too often and can't go through a whole hard season at his age.

I don't know how well that team would do next season, Fonz. It depends - was this season really just anomalous with the number of injuries and the number of players out of form; or was it a reflection of guys like Taddei and Perrotta and Totti falling a way a step with the ravages of time? Let's hope it's the former. Having Totti, Aquilani, and Juan all make it through the season injury-free would certainly make a hell of a difference; unfortunately, signing Messi, Kaka', and Iniesta may be more likely.

It's good to know you had your share of "welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day" moments. No doubt you get criticised for false humility whenever you complain about your sore foot. Did you eat any 'Dolphin'?

I prefer eXTraTime as an alternative to here. As a rule, amongst the larger football forums it's a very good site for Romanisti where general calcio is also discussed in addition to football from other countries. There are quite a number of Italian American members, hard core guys who have been around for years...who know what they are talking about and will let you say your piece.

It's understandable though that, just as with here, there's a lack of the usual enthusiasm right now, given our club's circumstances.

In those days of course, as you remember, we had to be Italian. From after the disaster of the 1966 World Cup until after the success of the 1982 World Cup, we closed our doors to stranieri.

Gio, we both know we need something more than just new ownership though God knows that's our prime necessity!

Even just getting back to Uefa's proposed five foreigners limit as a start would make a difference to our need to properly use our youth system. Getting to the nice balance of three as was once would be ideal...more than sufficient fresh ideas from the few foreigners and an Italian if not necessarily Roman majority roster willing to play for the shirt!

I really believe in limitation, it proved its worth.

Secondo MF Dow Jones sarà annunciato a breve il nome del "super manager" che dovrà traghettare l'As Roma alla vendita. In pole sembra esserci il professore di economia aziendale, Eugenio Pinto, che verrebbe messo a capo di Roma 2000, la holding che controlla la As Roma e a lui verrebbe concesso il potere specifico di gestire la dismissione del 67% del club giallorosso in mano alla famiglia Sensi. Per l'assegnazione dell'incarico servira' convocare l'assemblea di Roma 2000, con una procedura che comunque non comportera' molto tempo e infine si procedera' alla nomina del Cda composto da tre componenti: il manager stesso, un uomo di Unicredit, azionista al 49% di Italpetroli, probabilmente l'avvocato Roberto Cappelli e un esponente della famiglia Sensi. Questa struttura permettera' ad Unicredit di poter avere un manager indipendente sul cui tavolo far convogliare le manifestazioni di interesse. Oggi a Milano ci saranno incontri tra Unicredit, Mediobanca e i rappresentanti della famiglia Sensi proprio per definire le questioni ancora sul tavolo.
