Guys, they weren't saying a terrible lot about Motta on Italia 1's Studio Sport other than he stays with us. Rai are clear, however, reflecting the Mediaset report I told you all of...we just paid the other half of the 7mil asking price. He is ours!

What is being given more attention is the Brighi affair which to quote Mediaset again is "on hold!" The reason given is the uncertainty of our ownership...so what are we to make of that? If we are sold to a moneyed new owner then we can afford better than Brighi. If we remain under la Sensi then we can't?

Mediaset go on to say Fiorentina are ready with the cheque book for him, no value given.

Matteo Brighi's contract doesn't expire until 2012 and he's on good money – €1.4m-a-year + yearly raises and bonuses – I would let his agent ramble on about how his client deserves a better deal all he wants, but I hardly think its a priority right now.

Gio, what can I say. I'm not a wine drinker much and know little about what is good and what is not. I likes what I likes, and if its decent and can get me drunk then I'll drink it. Is that why smarty-panties Tommy Boy ignored me? Snobby knut.

RomaNews is having some oul problemi tecnici and won't be able to update for at least 20 hours. Some timing, ey, the club could be sold over the next day or so and RomaNews suddenly goes down...? Uh huh, I don't believe in coincidences, I smell something fishy.

Sorry, edzo, I've just been off in a meeting. Actually, NZ merlot isn't too bad - it's not quite in the same category as the stuff the Avvocato mentions. Historically, NZ wine-makers couldn't manage to take the edge of their Cab Sav. it was too green and stalky and so they blended it with some merlot to soften the effect. It's not especially sophisticated, no doubt, but I quite like it, to be honest. We've struggled to make big, integrated wines - presumably because of the climate (is there not quite enough sun to ripen the grapes?) but perhaps because of the soil.

That might, of course, be more suspicious, edzo - that'd be about perfect time for an announcement of some kind or another to be made. They have to wait until the market closes, after all.

Yes, it makes sense that around 20:00 we will perhaps at least be made aware of whichever developments our club feels like making us aware of. Right now I don't know whether I'm sad, mad, or what!

I guess we will again just have to wait! On the wines aspect...my parents when they were alive, my Italian and Spanish friends, and assorted others reckon that given my Italian origins, I'm a bit of a Philistine!

I like a Carlsberg special brew with my meal and after, a coffee, then whisky or brandy. I like very much to cook with wine, have a number of fine recipes...drinking it has never done great things for me though I certainly don't dislike a nice Ruffino or Chianti. Even a dry Spanish Sauterne...
