MILAN, Jun 20: Milan president Silvio Berlusconi, one of the biggest individual spenders in European football over the past 24 years, has changed sides. Now the Italian Prime Minister has attacked the escalating level of wages and transfer fees. Media speculation, refuted by Milan, has suggested that the club wants to straighten out its finances to increase its attraction for a foreign investor.

Berlusconi, who had few regrets at selling Kaka to Real Madrid for £65m, said: "The prices in football are pure madness. If you think about the figures and the relation to the normal economy, there's no proportion. It's not possible to go on like this. It's necessary to have a minimum sense of practicality and decency. You can't spend certain figures.

"Now I intend to do something about it because it has become unacceptable."

Milan fans may be less than happy that their club, outpaced by neighbours in the Italian title trace over all the past four years, do not intend to try to compete in terms of transfer expenditure as once they did in signing Dutchmen Ruud Gullit, Marco Van Basten and high-priced successors.

The Italian Prime Minister's comments contrasted starkly with those, a week ago, of the FIFA president Sepp Blatter who saw evidence for the continuing healthy popularity of football in the record sums Madrid had spent on both Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Also, Berlusconi continues to be content to accept such "mad money" since he said he is sure Brazil striker Alexandre Pato will stay at the club but is less certain about Andrea Pirlo who has been linked with a move to Chelsea following former Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Berlusconi added: "We are going to see what we do with Pirlo, I hope that he is going to stay and I was the first to say so, but we must assess the situation. As for Pato, he will have an amazing career and I think that he can replace Kaka. Lads, we should just let it go. I mean it will get evn worse. Next year we'll see Seedorf fat ass holding the ball, going in circles eventually loosing it. We will see Ronaldinho trying desperately to proove himself by laughing despite millions of fans dying in madness, or even worse giving those long useless passes that not even Superman can catch them. Then not to forget Gattuso who thinks that football is about running, so add loosing 1 meter passess every time he gets the ball and you get the perfect picture of Milan 2009.


Berlusconi is trying to balance the team and sell it. We have to be aware that our vision has changed. From winning trophies we swiched to "having a positive net balance". This tells a lot and we should excpect much. Im afraid that next few years we'll have to watch Milan as second rank team. That is their current strategy, that is our future.

What I hope for is fans at San Siro. They can change things around. But they are some damn ignorants that give no fuck. Well most of them still believe in Galliani's words.

Pirlo will honour AC Milan contract says agent

Chelsea target Andrea Pirlo is staying at AC Milan, according to his agent. The Italian midfielder has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, and AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi claimed recently he will listen to offers for Pirlo.

But Pirlo's agent Tullio Tinti told Gazzetta dello Sport: "We are not worried by Berlusconi's comment. Pirlo is a Milan player. He is under contract and he honours contracts.''

The 30-year-old is under contract with AC Milan until June 2012. The World Cup winner made 26 league appearances as the Rossoneri finished third in Serie A last season.

MILAN, June 28 - German champions VfL Wolfsburg are refusing to sell Edin Dzeko to AC Milan, the Bosnian striker said on Sunday.

"Wolfsburg won't let me go. Everyone knows that Milan are the team of my dreams but I can not do anything," the 23-year-old told Italy's Sky television.

Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani, looking for a new attacker after selling playmaker Kaka to Real Madrid, is not giving up despite Wolfsburg's stance.

"We will wait until the end of next week," he told reporters. "We will see what happens. Otherwise we will alter our objectives."

Galliani had previously said Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano were possible targets if Dzeko was not for sale.

The Rossoneri chief also reiterated that striker Alexandre Pato will not be leaving the San Siro despite media reports saying former Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti had bid 60 million euros ($84.3 million) to take the Brazilian to new club Chelsea.

"We had already received a previous offer higher than that and we said no," he said.

There was no progress on sealing a loan deal for Porto left back Aly Cissokho after a permanent move collapsed when the Frenchman failed a medical, Galliani added.

AC Milan coach Leonardo admits studying for his coaching badges is hard work, but he is well aware of the rewards it will bring as he eyes a trophy next season.

The Brazilian is at the Italian FA's Coverciano training complex where he is studying for his coaching badges in an attempt to be fully qualified and ready for the start of the new campaign on August 23.

"It's really hard, but very useful," Leonardo told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"The experience I have gained on the pitch, as well as the theory that I am studying here will give me the winning formula."

Leonardo enjoyed a director's role at the club before he replaced Carlo Ancelotti who joined Chelsea last month.

The Brazilian's aim is to guide Milan in their quest for Scudetto and Champions League glory next season.
