"This global warming thing" sunk to new depths for me when we saw that supercilious faced McCartney a couple of days ago tell us we should have a meatless Monday or at least one meatless day per week...

As if that would stop cows farting in the fields and releasing methane into our ozone layer! I get his point on less demand = less cows but if he thinks the number would significantly decrease he has his head further up his own arse than many think it already is!

Steve, cooking is a hobby of mine and I guarantee if ever we are in the same city, I will prepare for you a couple of my special burgers with a nice salad and your choice of white or wholegrain rolls to go with your meat!

You may not prefer them to a McDonald's but you will still enjoy them!

Who knows? A number of us could meet up one time and after the food it can be wine, women and song...or a beers with the boys night with good football to watch! Stranger things have been known to happen!

Gio, I'm grateful for tv channels like Discovery, Nat. Geog. etc!

Some scientists maintain that every 250,000 years or so the poles reverse. Apparently the tell-tale starting signs of another flip over is exactly what we are experiencing now, a prelude to extreme weather conditions before calm is restored.

Then we have new continents with different land masses above or under water, a warmer northern hemisphere and a cooler southern. I don't for a second doubt many of us here have seen these facts in tv docs, books or the net...

The idea of the repeat of a natural phenomenon as an alternative explanation to global warming appeals more and more to me. The everyday suggestions we get from those I term "attention seekers" are becoming so beyond a joke difficult to believe...

IL MESSAGGERO: Oggi l'offerta di Fioranelli

Oggi potrebbe essere il giorno della verità: Fioranelli avrebbe annunciato a Mediobanca la presentazione dell'offerta per l'acquisto del pacchetto di maggioranza dell'As Roma. L'offerta sarebbe di 200 milioni di euro più l'Opa da lanciare sul 100% del club quotato in Borsa. La banca avrebbe comunicato ad Unicredit la ragionevole speranza che oggi l'agente Fifa scopra le carte, con offerta e garanzie. Per questo motivo sarebbe stato "congelato" il negoziato tra l'istituto bancario e i Sensi per la stesura del mandato a vendere fino a questa sera. In caso contrario Unicredit tornerà a fare pressing, considerato che nei primi giorni della prossima settimana scadrà il termine entro il quale piazza Cordusio può dar corso all'iniziativa giudiziaria.

Se Fioranelli presenterà un'offerta adeguata con tutte le garanzie, i soldi ricavati da Italpetroli saranno girati ad Unicredit per il rimborso del debito: non ci saranno sconti, che sono invece previsti in caso di trattative derivanti dal mandato a vendere a Mediobanca. Se l'offerta verrà accettata, Fioranelli passerà poi ad occuparsi della struttura tecnica: 150-160 milioni da investire in 4 anni. Quaranta milioni a stagione. Secondo il settimanale Il Mondo sarebbero già pronti tre contratti: per il marchio, per gli impianti sportivi e per la società. Per dare credibilità all'offerta, la stessa sarà depositata presso Spafid, la fiduciaria di Mediobanca. Dopo la firma del preliminare, la chiusura della due diligence e la notifica dell'antitrust passarebbe ai Sensi. Per un costo complessivo dell'operazione di circa 500 milioni.
