Well Santon wasnt a transfer. Coutinho was part in last year's transfer window. Only Arnautovic is in this year's transfer window, if it comes true.
I must admit that I made the above post before I actually read the full article, therefore I was a little misled. Not essentially by the contents, cause Moratti did confirm that we are trying to get Deco & Carvalho, but by the meaning of these transfers. I was always fine by the idea of getting Carvalho, since defenders dont need to be young, but I was against the idea of getting Deco. Now that I read the full article, I understand that Deco might come over on loan (like Crespo & Veron did), and that he will be used as a transition to Coutinho. He will have to cover that role for this year, whereas next year he'd be teaching his skills to the youngster. BUT trust me GF, had the intentions been to build a CL team on these players, then every other group of supporters would have been unhappy.

Inter out to land Carvalho & Deco

Inter Milan have revealed they are hopeful of taking Chelsea pair Ricardo Carvalho and Deco to the San Siro. The Italian club's former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho wants both 31-year-olds, who played for him in Porto's Champions League triumph against Monaco in 2004.

Inter president Massimo Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport talks were under way with Chelsea about a double deal. He said: "Mourinho has asked us for Deco and Carvalho and we are working towards making him happy."

Deco fell from favour after arriving at Chelsea in an £8m move from Barcelona in the summer of 2008 - and recently admitted he hoped to be reunited with Mourinho in Italy. And Carvalho, a success at Stamford Bridge but restricted by injury to only 18 appearances last season, has revealed he wants to leave Chelsea after four years.

Moratti added: "Our wish is to sign both players and I have seen that the players' intention is to join us. We still haven't reached an agreement with Chelsea but I think we will do in a short time."

And Moratti is convinced Carvalho will bring crucial experience to Inter's defence and stated: "We are interested in Carvalho primarily for the Champions League. He has the right experience, he is calm under pressure and brings experience in the defensive line.

"Our coach has guaranteed quality and I have every intention to make him happy. Deco will have two tasks: to do well immediately and to help Brazilian player Philippe Coutinho mature as a player. Coutinho will arrive next season from Vasco de Gama and plays in the same role as Deco."

Inter are ready to offer Lyon €20million plus the services of Amantino Mancini and Patrick Vieira in return for French striker Karim Benzema, according to Sportmediaset.it.

The report suggests Inter are keen on the hitman, who has attracted attention from several major European sides, including English champions Manchester United. Nerazzurri director Gabriele Oriali is set to meet Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas this week in order to make an offer.

However, Aulas has already claimed he would not be willing to sell his prized asset this summer, claiming Benzema has his heart set on South Africa 2010 with France and that a move could hinder his chances with Les Bleus.

In addition, Inter president Massimo Moratti claimed the club would be keeping Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And with Diego Milito in the bag, as well as the possible arrival of Marko Arnautovic, contradicting reports claim Benzema could be extra baggage.

Agent Antonio Caliendo has revealed that Italian champions Inter are chasing Lyon midfielder Ederson, but he will certainly cost president Massimo Moratti a large sum of cash.

"He is an Inter player," he originally stated, before correcting himself, in an interview with tuttomercatoweb.

"Ederson is a player who is an option for Inter. I hear about Deco, but I still think the Brazilian could be a great possibility for the Nerazzurri. He is a player Inter like a lot."

Thus, no deals have been made between Inter and Lyon for the highly rated midfielder, who joined the French club in the summer of 2008 and had an impressive inaugural campaign, bagging five goals in 35 appearances.

"The negotiations are not concluded and Lyon want €20 million," he said.

Les Gones are unlikely to relinquish the player if the Serie A giants do not meet their asking price, as he is considered the ideal replacement for the departing Juninho.

Not too sure what to make of the Deco transfer. Carvalho is a good choice even though I would've rather gotten a young defender but he'll be good for another 3-4 years so I won't complain. But bringing in Deco..well at least he'll be a creative option for us for the year I suppose and on loan never really hurts a club. One things for sure, all the players we've bought or are going to buy are better than the options we had on the bench so the quality in our squad depth increases greatly but does it increase enough in the first team to win the CL? Not so sure.. Looks like Jimenez has gotten his move to West Ham wrapped up so the departures are now Cruz, Crespo, Figo and Jimenez.

Looks like we had an option on him three years ago, I thought we owned him at some point.
