Inter Milan celebrated clinching their fourth straight scudetto with an emphatic triumph over Siena last weekend. The newly-crowned champions go into Sunday's game at Cagliari in buoyant mood with news that an agreement has been reached with Genoa to acquire the rights of duo Diego Milito and Thiago Motta for next season.

Nerazzurri fans now hope Jose Mourinho's insistence he will still be in charge at the San Siro next season proves true. The Inter coach has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer but he claims he his highly unlikely to head for the exit.

"It's 99.9 per cent certain I'm staying at Inter," Mourinho told Sky Italia. "Who coaches Real Madrid will be a lucky man. "For me the most important thing is that my president knows everything and knows everything from me, not from the press or because someone told him. "Am I tempted by Madrid? It is a big temptation to be happy, to work happy, to wake up every morning and go, in this case to Appiano, with great joy and happiness and work.

"As a manager said many years ago: where there's a pitch, players and a few balls, you become happy. "But obviously Madrid is Madrid and you could say there's a little temptation."

If Mourinho does leave he will be hoping to see out his final two games in charge, against Cagliari and Atalanta, with a bang. Maicon, Nelson Rivas, Francesco Bolzoni, Hernan Crespo, and Maxwell are out injured.

Cagliari have little to play for either but will want to put on a good show for their fans against the Italian champions in their last home game of the season. Their hopes of playing in Europe next season were dashed after they lost 2-1 at Reggina last weekend. With two games left to play, the Sardinians are seven points behind Roma, who hold the last European qualifying spot.

However, despite missing out on Europe, Cagliari have enjoyed a successful campaign and will end the season in the top half of the standings - a great improvement on last year's 14th-place finish. And defender Francesco Pisano insists there are still a lot of positives to be taken from this season.

"It would have been the cherry on the cake," he said. "But we can't complain. That's how it happened. "It's been a very good season, I hope to do even better next year. "I would have liked to have played more continuously, but at the end I still played a lot."

Cagliari have also been boosted by the news that coach Massimiliano Allegri, who has been linked with a move to AC Milan, is set to remain at the Stadio Sant'Elia next season.

"I don't dance around," he said. "It's something that doesn't concern me. "In life you need to take decisions. I made my choice by signing for two years for Cagliari. "So I will remain in charge next year too."

Allegri will be without Davide Biondini, who is suffering from flu, as well as Rafael Acosta, Paolo Bianco and Alessandro Matri.

I wouldn't take Carvalho but only because I'd rather a young defender to bring down the average age of our defence. With Samuel, Cordoba and Chivu back there, we need to start now in bringing in a new CB partnership.

MILAN - Inter president Massimo Moratti spoke briefly to journalists this morning outside the Saras offices:

Perez says that no offer was made to Mourinho, but Mourinho is still talking about contacts. What is the Inter president's reply?
"I am following the matter and we will get to the bottom of it. That's all."

Is it true that you are a bit annoyed about these percentages that are never 100%?
"A bit annoyed? I'm not very happy to read these things."

Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira believes he will still be at the San Siro next season. Vieira, who started his career at Cannes, has been linked with a return to France and a move to either Paris St Germain or ousted champions Lyon. However, the France international expects to be reassured of his place at Inter when he meets with coach Jose Mourinho next week.

"From what they're telling me, there will be a decision," Vieira told French sports daily L'Equipe. "But I know that if I'm physically fine I have my place here. Without a problem. I have never met anyone, neither at Paris, nor in another French club. I want to stay at Inter. I feel good here.

"Now this desire needs to be shared by everyone. No-one has come and told me anything. So I haven't asked myself questions about leaving." Vieira admits, however, that if he does decide to leave the San Siro then France would be the likely destination.

The former Arsenal midfielder added: "I don't see myself for example returning to England in a club that plays in mid-table or for survival. I prefer to go to a club in France who play for the title. That seems logical to me." Vieira has battled with injuries all season and started just 10 matches this campaign. However, the 32-year-old is confident he can still cope at the highest level.

"A place at Inter is worth a lot, because there are a lot of good players," said Vieira. "But I want everyone to have the same chances. If that's the case there's no worries, I'm staying at Inter. I will play, because I have confidence in my skills and I know that I am better than the players in position."
