NOTES:

- MANAGER: Obviously, the first thing that needs to change is Claudio Ranieri. He must be sacked. He had a good run with us, but now it is time for our standards to raise. Gasperini, Conte, Prandelli and Spalletti are all good options and I would actually put them in that order as well. I think a team like Juventus should be able to sign any of these coaches in a flash. We NEED to make that happen.

- GOALKEEPERS: Buffon is still one of the best keepers in the world, despite the fast that his light is starting to fade. I think we can still get a couple more seasons out of him and it would be in our best interest to do so. Manninger is a superb backup and is definitely ready to fill in when the time comes. I don't have a third keeper up here, because I don't think we should spend any money on one. We should either pick up a keeper on a free, or bring up a youngster if the need arises.

- CENTRAL DEFENSE: With Cannavaro coming back to Juventus this gives us a lot more depth... yes, alot. Legrottaglie did a very good job for us, but it is now time for him to fade back into the reserve role. With Legrottaglie as a backup, I feel much safer if one of our starters goes down. We still have Mellberg who can be used in central defense or at an RB, so the interchangeability is nice to have. A question mark here would be that I didn't keep Ariaudo as a 5th CB. I figured since Grygera would be in a bench role and Criscito available to play centrally as well, I think Ariaudo would develop better on loan where he can start or at least get a lot of minutes.

- SIDE DEFENSE: There is no better candidate for the RB position at Juventus than Christian Maggio. The guy is money and is just begging to get on a better team. Perhaps we could sell Palladino to Napoli, or work a deal for another one of our outward players in order to pick up Mr. Maggio. Bringing back Criscito is imperative, especially since we will have De Ceglie as a backup, thus allowing us to throw Molinaro to the curb. In the 4-3-2-1 formation (an obvious choice for next season) we can then use Salihamidzic as a backup SB if Grygera, De Ceglie or Mellberg couldn't go.

- CENTRAL MIDFIELD: Sissoko is not the smartest player on the planet and the 4-4-2 just exposes this weakness. In the suggested formation, I believe the big dummy would shine. With Camoranesi and Marchisio making all the passes and moving the play, Sissoko could run around being the butcher he is. He wouldn't have to pretend to have attacking prowess and could just stay in front of the defense and commit multiple murders. Poulsen would be a relatively effective backup to Sissoko because he would also be able to just defend and not worry about moving the ball. Zanetti and Tiago would be more than serviceable backups to Camoranesi and Marchisio. I actually would really like to see more of Tiago in a narrow 3 man midfield, as it was this formation that I always thought he could do well in. Zanetti can play as a LCM or DM in this setup as well. Salihamidzic and Nedved would also be good options here. I see some decent versatility with this roster and this formation, especially in the CM.

- ATTACKING MIDFIELD: Playing Diego and Giovinco together would be all the creativity any fan could ask for. But, more importantly than the fans desire to be entertained, they actually could work nicely based on their play styles. Giovinco, since he is more attack minded (stop, just listen) will naturally drift to the left with Criscito and be supported by Marchisio (who is more d-minded than Camo). This will allow him to play in the corner and at the edge of the penalty area, looping in beauties and even blasting a few stunners. Diego is a bit better at tracking back and would work well on the right side with Camoranesi and an aggressive Maggio. Diego likes to get inside the box and is really good (somehow) and finding loose balls in scoring positions. The Waterboy would be a nice player to bring on at the end of games to energize the crowd and give us a more top heavy look. Nedved could add some grit when we need to ice a game and if used properly could help kick start a lacking counter-attack.

- STRIKERS: Amauri and Iaquinta are similar, but I think Iaquinta is a better player overall. His movement is more meaningful, his headers are just as effective and his presence is much more impactful. Amauri is the perfect option though, because you don't lost that much tactical stability when he is in. The change from Iaquinta to Amauri is almost like for like and in some instances, would be downright sexy to play him and Iaquinta with Diego or Giovinco behind. Trezeguet had 20+ goals just a year ago and is still a very effective player. I would keep him because you just know, in those games where we keep rolling the ball in front of the net, a guy like Trezeguet is the one that will put it in.

- OVERALL: I don't see too many holes in this setup. I think it is not only realistic based on out linkages, but also very financially feasible. I would prefer to see Poulsen or Zanetti go and pick up a guy like D'Agostino, and drop Grygera for Zapata, but I just don't think Secco can handle all those transfers in one go. Save something for January.

- CONCLUSION: The 4-3-2-1 is definitely the way to go if we sign this roster. I really don't think we could do much better unless we sign a guy like Hamsik or D'Agostino as well. Of course, there might be some other players looking to come to Italy that I don't know about yet, but for now... this is how I roll!

I'm not sure on the dollar exchange rate right now, but you seem a little low on Diego.

He is going to be about 23-25m euros.

Knezevic is just on loan, so we won't get anything from that.

Calcio Debate: Diego To Juventus – Top Or Flop?

Werder Bremen star Diego has all but signed for Juventus, according to his representative. Carlo Garganese asks whether this is a good or bad move for the Bianconeri.

The official confirmation may not yet have arrived, and when Alessio Secco is in town you should never count your chickens, but it nevertheless seems highly likely that the Diego-Juventus transfer saga, which has lingered on for the best part of two years, is finally coming to an end. The Werder Bremen playmaker’s representative Giacomo Petralito confirmed yesterday to Kicker that “the three parties involved have already put signatures on the contracts.â€

Diego is the guy for the job, Zoff. He is 24 and after establishing himself as a very skilled passer and set-piece player in the earlier stages of his career, he really proved his worth to me this season by being the inspirational leader of his team.

He went from being a bit lazy in the past, to this year playing with enormous passion. He is a perfect player for Juventus and the best (hands down) transfer we have made since calciopoli.

He and Giovinco will work wonders together.
