Report: Cagliari Coach Massimiliano Allegri In Line For Milan Job

Reports in the peninsula suggest that the Cagliari boss is favourite to replace Ancelotti at the helm of the Rossoneri.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, if Carlo Ancelotti accepts the managerial role at Premiershit giants Chelsea, Cagliari tactician Massimiliano Allegri will take over the Milan bench.

Allegri is only in his first Serie A season, but he has worked wonders in Sardinia and has taken the Rossoblu to the brink of UEFA Cup qualification, despite a horrendous start to the campaign that saw them drift to five straight defeats.

Ancelotti has been given an ultimatum by the Diavoli and will be shown the door if he fails to deliver a top-three finish.

However, he is being heavily linked with Chelsea and could decide to move to England after almost eight years spent in Milan, regardless of the RossoneriÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s final position in the table.

Therefore, the Via Turati directors are already weighing up different options and Allegri seems to fit the bill.

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani recently expressed his admiration for the 41-year-old and stressed that he has all the qualities needed to become a great coach.

It is also suggested that Allegri has reached a gentlemanÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s agreement with Cagliari president Massimo Cellino and will be able to liberate himself from his contract with the Isolani if he receives an offer from a top side.

The reports of Ancelotti to Chelsea in the english media are continuing to grow, and I read that Abramovich has made Carlo his number one choice. It also seems that Abramovich is going to invest big time into his club again (Ã‚Â£45m for David Villa!?), so it could be hard for any projected new manager to turn down, even Carlo. I think this would be a good move for all. Ancelotti's time at Milan has come to an end and you need a new man in charge to revitalise the club and tell Galliani to go fuck himself.
