Guys, if Cannavaro comes back to Italia don't you think he'll go home to join his brother Paolo at Napoli?

Cannavaro still has one good season, maybe two, in Serie A left in him.

He would be a good at a side which is a pretty compact defensive unit, but he might struggle at Roma given how exposed the CBs often are.

And, Napoli appeared to rule out a move for him, Carlo, but they (or maybe Milan) would seem to most logical move for him to make.

i don't know, carlo. it seemed to have been the intended and logical move to go and play with his brother in his hometown of napoli but i recently read an interview with de laurentis and, as red alluded, he made it pretty clear they were not interested. could be posturing on his part so that he doesn't go and pay an absurd amount of money for his wages but he seemed to be fairly definitive, rather than the usual rhetoric of, "we'll see how it goes" kind of thing.

Of course we are only speculating. Mediaset seems to think Cannavaro won't come to Italy at all but move on to England...he still has some pace but would he cope with the EPL, week in, week out? I'm not so sure.

Andrew, perhaps your suggestion of Milan is more like the thing...

La Roma pensa a un ritorno di Christian Chivu. Attualmente all''Inter - e con soddisfazione - il difensore romeno non ha mai dimenticato il club giallorosso che lo ha reso celebre in Italia. Con Spalletti il rapporto e'' rimasto ottimo: alcuni dei senatori giallorossi sono stati invitati al suo matrimonio. Stesso discorso per i dirigenti. Il contratto di Chivu con la societa'' di Moratti scade nel 2012: nel frattempo le due parti lavoreranno per stabilire un contatto concreto. Tutti sembrano d''accordo: i dubbi rimangono sui tempi e i costi.

I hope the projected line-up for tomorrow comes about - Perrotta-DDR-Brighi behind Pizza and Menez and Totti. It would be a very good opportunity for Menez, I think, to play in a side that should be quite good. He's struggled recently in patched-up sides which have struggled as a whole. No doubt Spags would rather have Vooch in there but I think it could be a big opportunity for Menez. Personally, I'd take Chivu back if he were to come on our terms. For all of the fall-out over his move, I don't think he's ever said anything particularly negative about the club. The media have tried to spin one or two remarks ahead of the games with Inter, but there's been nothing there and the guys at the club have only said positive things about him. The way I see it, Rosella tried to spin the whole thing so that Chivu came out looking much worse and Rosella cleaner than clean. I've never quite understood how some people over on theoffside have felt that Mancini left on much better terms. The problem with Chivu, of course, would just be his injuries which mean he's not worth the money. I still maintain, though, that had we had Chivu and Juan last season we'd have won the Scudetto.
