I agree Frenchesco we finally have some great news. Kappa is the perfect sponsor for Roma. They look good and are much more available than Legea and even Diadora.

A token contract seems interesting, but it is to only decrease the heat between Chivu and the fans, not to tie his future to the club. I want him to resin. If Spaletti has hope of Chivu resigning then I do. We don't exactly know how much money Chivu is demanding from the management and I don't think its twice what we already offered him.

The reason that he is demanding a high salary from the big clubs is because if he is leaving Roma, he better leave for something really big. When he saw Inter offer him that much, Real and Barca could have matched it as they are 2 of the richest clubs in the world.

I just read that Moratti said that if Roma increase Chivus salary, he would easily remain. The problem as we all know, is that we have Rosella and her salary cap that is costing this team a lot.

I don't think Spalletti wants him on the team. He said it was a shame that a deal didn't go through. I think he sees it as that the need for a top class winger is important enough to sacrifice Chivu. The most frustrating part of all of this is the fact that its keeping us from going after those wingers. What the hell happened to the Rosina and Quags rumors?

Giuly can sling his hook too. Sorry I'm in a bad mood, but I'm not a fan of his. Basically I think he is too slow to fit into our system. What we need is a wide player who offer true width and electric pace down the sidelines. Esposito fits the bill nicely with that, so really I can't see what Giuly what bring to this team, as I don't think he has the quality to push Taddei, Mancini or Perrotta out of the starting 11. Honestly, I think the only reason we are being linked with him is because Rosella and Prade would see him as being our 'big-name' signing this season, and he would only cost us €3m (a figure which Barca would probably reject anyway). We are unwilling to go after Rosina or Quags because, simply, they cost too much, and so we have Giuly.

"Due mesi fa proposi Saviola alla Roma, ma i dirigenti giallorossi hanno preferito puntare su altri obiettivi": è il procuratore Filippo Fusco, l'uomo che ha portato a Trigoria Amantino Mancini, a raccontare il retroscena di mercato a "Il Romanista". "Mi fu detto che il giocatore non interessava e che in vista c’erano altri affari. Peccato, perché Saviola oltre che ad essere un classe ’81 (è nato l’11 dicembre, ndr), rientrava perfettamente nei parametri del club che si è imposta il tetto degli ingaggi. Vincenzo Montella has returned to Sampdoria on a free transfer from Roma, his new club have announced.

"I would like to say thanks to the board and thanks to all the fans who have come to see me here," Montella told the Sampdoria website. "I decided to return to Genoa because my ties with the city, the fans and the shirt have never diminished despite it being eight years since I left.

"At Roma I was not given as much of a chance as I wanted and when the opportunity came to move here I jumped at it."

Montella, now 33, has a fearsome games-to-goals ratio in Italy, hitting 60 in 98 for Sampdoria and 98 in 231 for Roma, despite not usually being first choice at the Gallorossi. He started his career at Empoli before moving to Genoa, where he burst onto the scene and earned a move to city rivals Samp.

He spent half of last season on-loan at Fulham, where he failed to settle despite a bright start.

"The board made a lot of sacrifices to bring me here and I thank them for it," the 'little aeroplane' continued.

"I am determined to achieve my goals here and will work as hard as possible to do this. I have a lot of experience which I hope to be able to pass onto the younger players and I think my presence will boost the squad."
