'Moldo, now I know why you became a giallorosso! You spent time in la citta eternita and lived with a family where la mamma cooked home made pasta every day! A lot of people mistakenly think it's only the sugo or sauce that makes the difference but you know very well nothing beats hand made pasta. When I have time I make my own ravioli, gnocchi, and fettucine...and it must ideally be eaten on the day it's made, no later than the next if it's to be enjoyed as it should be!

Totti will unfortunately for all of us never again re-live that magical season of 2006-07 when he was Serie A capocannoniere with all those goals. Fate has forced us in more than one sense to accept the fact that we must persist with a player of whom we must make allowances for age, fitness level, and loss of pace. Though grazie a dio, he still has his skill, we've always known the day would come when we'd have to ask, "For how long can we continue with a team built round a figurehead?" Except that the way things have chanced to pan out during this season and for a fair bit of last, we have had to make our way without him...so in that respect it's pointless comparing Totti's Roma to Maradona's Napoli and The Waterboy's Juve.

In any case, unlike us, Napoli in particular had an all star cast back then and they survived for quite a time, at least on the pitch without the former pibe d'oro...until business became their undoing! We on the other hand will struggle to put a senior team out on Saturday evening...we're not merely the victims of circumstance through injuries, we are destined to remain in name at any rate, Totti's Roma, simply because we can't replace him thanks to a financially embarrassed and inept management...and no matter what he or anyone else thinks to the contrary, he is going to be little more than a bit-part player for us from here on in, a fact that saddens me every bit as much as living through losing former true heroes like Pruzzo and Giannini.

De Rossi? Sir tender Alex Ferguson would take him to Old Trafford tomorrow if he could...

Vucinic may be relatively unknown outside of Italy but ask Los Galacticos if they remember what he did to them last season...

Inter? Time was I liked them! Trap's Inter was very good but when I was a kid growing up during Herrera's grande Inter...well they were just superb! Italian too! But best not get on my case over that one.

Carlo, I was a Roma fan before my time in the Eternal City, although being there certainly magnified it exponentially. I still remember going to the derby replay in the spring of 2004 and being in the curva sud.

Didn't Real and Utd and a number of others express interest in Vuci?

Herrera? Carlo that is old school. Late 60s/early 70s right? It has been a year since I have read John Foot's excellent "Calcio." Opinions on Nereo Rocco, il padrone del catenaccio?

Pippo will always be one of my very favourite attacanti! The forum comments as well as the article made a good read!

Interisti would beg to differ that Herrera and not Rocco made catenaccio what it was...but what is beyond argument is that albeit with "broken service" he was every bit as important to the Rossoneri as was Herrera to the Beneamata.

Rocco's Milan, captained by Cesare Maldini in 1963 put Italy very much on the map by winning the European Cup(as was) but Inter went one better by winning and retaining both the European and Intercontinental Cups 1964 and 1965...

So many beautiful memories of my youth from then, 'Moldo. For example the rivalry between genuine artists like Mazzola and Rivera for a place in the Azzurri to the point where it was agreed to give them each a separate 45 mins, playing alternate halves! Ugly memories too...I'll never forget sitting through Italy's 4-1 defeat by Brasil!

It must be something in the water at Trigoria. I think Chris was saying before that pre-Roma Juan did not have such extensive injury problems.. Though it looks liek Chivu is chronically hurt since he hasn't played a ton at Inter, I believe
