Professore, yes, I think we can thank Doni today...I counted 3 top class saves which keeps his rep going for me, the one from just off-centre of his goal around head height, the second when he had to deflect the ball over the bar, and thirdly, the low shot he had to dive to, pushing the ball round the post.

I wouldn't be too harsh on him for not holding the ball which gave Pazzini his opportunist's goal. Padalino's initial volley was a bit of a stinger and in any case, where was the rest of our defence? Pazzini had so much space to work with it was beyond a joke!

Couldn't believe Motta today! He had a wasp up his ass and was, as you said, looking for trouble. I think the ref was quite patient with him, all things considered.

As for Menez...I'd like to think the general consensus of opinion here is correct, taking his youth into account and his lack of playing opportunity as being adequate reason for his below standard performances. I would however remind us all that he came to our club last summer simply because it was thought he was already good enough to fit straight into our starting XI and clearly this is not the case. As I recall he bitched about wanting back to France not so long ago if he wasn't played more. Frankly, I'm not sure we can afford the luxury of trying to integrate him week by week into the team as a sub and given why we bought him, a loan deal seems a waste...

Was it my imagination or did our big beast play better today? Which poses the question about his being good enough only up to a certain level...Samp aren't exactly CL material!
