Its Spalletti's 50th today:

I just realised we're playing at 4pm CET tomorrow, thats a very unusual kick-off time. Its obviously to allow the three Italian participants in the CL to play on Saturday but I don't recall ever seeing a 4pm kick-off.

Players called for tomorrow:

Portieri: Doni, Artur, Bertagnoli,
Difensori: Mexes, Panucci, Motta, Riise, Juan, Cicinho, Loria.
Centrocampista: Pizarro, Aquilani, Taddei, Filipe, De Rossi, Brighi.
Attaccanti: Montella, Menez, Julio Baptista, Vucinic.

Oh and if anyone subsribes to the official magazine, there's a cool official team photo in it, would love to get a high-res of this:

(I think Alberto injured himself in posing for that photo, and was subsequently out for 6-8 weeks)

I'm not really surprised no-one took the bait over my cynical views on FIFA/Uefa, as a subject both connected to and quite apart from resolving wrong calls, it opens an entire other can of worms...and our minds are rightly turning to the Friulani on Saturday.

Ed, I had mentioned the 16:00 CET kick off but it got swamped in the technology discussion...early kick-offs happen occasionally, just a few weeks ago in fact when there were in fact 3 Saturday games. Trust me, it's as much about accommodating the schedules of La 7 cartapiu, SI live 24, Mediaset Premium, and Sky Italia as taking next week's Euro fixtures into account. TV is a little more civilised in Italy (as regards choice and price) than in the UK and Ireland where BSkyB and Setanta still rule the roost even if terrestrial broadcasters do get a slice of the pie.
