Milan deny discussions with Abu Dhabi group

MILAN - AC Milan denied a media report on Tuesday that the Italian club was in discussions about selling a stake to the Abu Dhabi United Group, owners of English Premiershit side Manchester City.

Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper said in an unsourced front page report that the group was interested in buying 40 percent of Milan.

"In relation to what has been published this morning in Corriere della Sera about a possible sale of part of the club, (holding company) Fininvest and AC Milan announce that the news is without foundation," a Milan statement said.

Milan, owned by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, missed out on the lucrative Champions League this season and funding for new signings has been tighter than usual.

Manchester City tried to buy Milan playmaker Kaka last month for a world record fee of around 100 million euros ($127 million).

Milan considered selling but talks broke down and the Brazilian decided he wanted to stay in Italy.

Well,if Cuffy really said that we should let him go.The thing is we will never find a suitable players to support Kaka if we keep buying an attacking midfielder.We have to look at Seedorf and Xavi Hernandez type of central midfielder,get that type of player and the balance in Milan's midfield will be restore.
Im thinking of Josue from VFL Wolfburg or Diego of Werder Bremen,both players have show that they do briliantly behind Kaka.

Well, I hate to see this hapenning to the club as much as I am disgusted with the current management I think such a move would undermine our long-term stability as a club

That said, being financially powerful when it comes to the mercato for a club Milan would make us irresistible when recruiting players, this is not Manchester City or Chelski, our Name + the money would be a deadly combo...if only Berlusconi can spend like he used to....

Kaka And Ronaldinho Not Called Up For Werder Bremen Match

AC Milan have been dealt a blow to their offence as they will be without creative influences Ronaldinho and Kaka for the crucial match against Werder Bremen in the UEFA Cup. Coach Carlo Ancelotti's squad was posted on the Milan official website and did not include the pair of Brazilians, who are both listed as injured. The duo are both suffering from muscular injuries and they will not be available on Thursday evening. The tactician had previously stated that he hoped that they would recover in time, but unfortunately for the Milan squad this has not been the case.

Meanwhile, long-term injury absentees Alessandro Nesta and Gennaro Gattuso will certainly miss out as well. However, Alexandre Pato and Andriy Shevchenko have both returned to fitness and could start the match at the San Siro. The first-leg ended in a 1-1 draw with Filippo Inzaghi opening the scoring and Werder attacking midfielder Diego claiming a late equaliser. The Rossoneri have fallen 11 points behind Inter in the Scudetto race and have been knocked out of the Coppa Italia. The UEFA Cup may represent their last chance for silverware this season.

This is probably the future of football. Clubs with a strong tradition selling out for success. I am sure all clubs will be in this position in a few year just to try to keep up with England.

that's true. i'd be happy too if he was playing fiorentina to play for them. even if we were paying him not to play for us it would probably still be preferable to him playing for us, certainly so if we were paying him.

i hope oil goes up more, oily. i am long oil and the canadian economy is very dependent on it as well.

not sure, shinpin. i think the government relies mostly on tax revenue from the venture, but it could be that they own a stake in it as well.

oh, also, they make a killing leasing the land for the oil companies to pilfer.
