yeah i was thinking along the likes of a 4-4-2 more than the usual 4-3-3.

i haven't seen too much of rossi, so i was hoping he'd be playing in a second striker role rather than wide left in a 3 man front line.

Ha, thats what happens when you put players who are out of shape and out of form out there. Italy are a mess, have no shape, Legrottaglie and Cannavaro have the combined pace of a turtle and are all over the place, Pirlo is clearly not up to match sharpness and fell asleep for Robinho's goal, and Montolivo and Pepe are out of they're depth. Even De Rossi doesn't look sure of himself out there. Its just an all-round sluggish and tired performance from Italy, and Lippi is to blame.

Whoa whoa whoa. Why is Zambrotta an automatic fixture?? Not only did Pilro's lazy ass give up the ball on Robinho's goal but Zambrotta just got played terribly vs a striker he used to be able to dispossess easily. I question his abilities now. He's been beyond terrible since leaving Juve. Zambro has been simply AWFUL since moving to Barca. It is like he forgot how to defend and even lost his abilities to push up. Disgusting can only describe the past few perfomances since the last Euro in an Italy shirt. This is not the impenetrable wall we've been used to the past few tournaments. Teams just walk in and score on Italy at will, especially from the right. I fear for the future of this team. The younger players are not talented (at least those Lippi chooses) and it seems Italy are getting older and older. There was always a good mix of great young talent with the veterans. Whatever happened to young players being stars?? DeRossi is made of glass. This guy gets hurt like a baseball player.

Dino, come on. De Rossi made of glass. I think he has led Italy and maybe the world in playing time over the last several years. Among non goal keepers of course.

That Robinho goal is one of he more embarrassing recent memory. I did think Italy played pretty well in the second half.
