We didn't play all that well but (1) no Totti, and Perrotta, Vucinic and Aquilani were not match fit (2) we played one of the league's better teams at a very tough home ground.
In fact, we are the last team to beat Napoli at the San Paolo. I didn't see the game but the highlights (speaking of which, you guys should check out the Napoli offside page http://napoli.theoffside.com/team-news/ ... ieces.html with their highlights from a Napoli announcer, fucking hilarious. On the third goal, you can hear Carlo Zampa in a nearby booth screaming "e gol, gol gol, gol, gol ..."). I have some attachment towards Napoli for family reasons (for my wife and also for my mom's godchild who's a manager at Bombardier and who took some time during work to use the equipment to make himself a "Forza Napoli" car plaque) so I hope they do well. They're entertaining to watch but incredibly naive defensively. At this point, it's becoming pretty clear that we will be filling the 4th CL spot. All of our chances except for maybe the Menez setup and the Mexes goal came from defensive blunders including Baptista's missed chance. Mexes' goal was offside but I actually can't see it from the replay angle although eveyone says it is so I'll believe it. This includes Mexes who in a post-match interview said he was sorry about that. Major gulf in class between a mexes or anyone of the other teams always reminds me of why I love La Magica. He said that he was offside because he wore size 46 shoes which stuck out too much, which says two things: (1) he's funny (2) since I wear size 45, he must have a ginormous cock, fucking freakshow.
On the other games this weekened: Juventus are winning ugly and also benefitting from refs errors (plus ca change plus c'est pareil). Melberg fouls Jovetic in the box without touching the ball, Gila scores a good goal and somehow the juventini are still complaining about Maicon's offside goal.
At this point, it looks like the tide for the scudetto has seriously shifted towards Turin. It's clear that the momentum is there. Still, I can't see how any self-respecting fan of sport, much less football, could be a fan of these guys. As for Inter, well Adriano punches a player (faggity little punch but the intention was clear) but espaces the ref's eye, then scores what turns out to be the game winner but only after Mourinho gets sent off. A mere few days after the Inter-tristi refer to Roma as a bunch of whinners, Mourinho goes on a fucking rampage for what he perceives to be "referee nervousness". He said that the 6 minutes of added time were to make Samp equalize. basically, he's saying the ref is giving a team favours. Can that be possible? What a fucking disgrace. On Panucci: He's certainly a strange individual. He's a very proud person. That is clear and he dances to his own beat. When Capello left, he could have made a few calls and moved with him. He wasn't attached to the shirt and could have made the same money anywhere else but he stayed for many reasons. Now he wants to leave just as easily. Strange indeed but ultimately wrong. It hurts the club tremendously but it hurts him almost as much. Completely unnecessary. This from the greatest rightback that Italy has produced in his generation and probably one of the best three along with Cafu and Zanetti in the world over the last 20 years or so. It's a real shame but he's the one that is at fault. Clearly, the club kind of brought this upon themselves but most of the blame is his. How he can't understand that he's not the best wingback option is beyond me except for one reason: pride. Too bad it had to end like this. He won't be traded away and we probably won't find a replacement in time. The only thing I can hope for is that he can suddenly change his mind just as easily and accept his role for the next 4-5 months and then take one of many potential offers from anywhere in the world.
On Palermo game: I hear Pizarro and Baptista got some knocks. I'd love to see Menez and Aquilani start the game and have guys like Perrotta, Pizarro and Baptista come in later on but I know that Spaletti prefers the opposite.
