we never doubted kaka'. but this is immense. this would've been almost as bad as istanbul for us; but it turned out to have a happy ending.

Guys, I'm delighted that Kaka' has stayed; I think Fonz is right - the worst guys have lost and Serie A and football is the better for it. Still, I personally think 90% of footballers in Kaka''s position wouldn't have gone to Man City and while I'm pleased I hardly think the gesture is "brilliant." I'm delighted because had Man City been able to buy him it would have sickened me. But I'm not for a moment going to believe that Kaka''s gesture entails any kind of real symbolism or self-abnegation.

And Rob, Chelski weren't transformed overnight. I wonder what they did in the first Abra year - did they go from third to fourth, perhaps, under Ranieri? Certainly they had a run in the CL in that strange, strange year when Porto beat Monaco in the final. If Man City were fourth or fifth at the moment, we might be talking, but the difference between a CL-qualified side and a non-CL-qualified side is absolute in the modern footballing world and Man City are a lot further down the pile at the moment than fifth by a whisker might be.
