Shield....... did i tell you i like the way you think?? Pasqual on a free would be lovely, we'd see the back of Riise sooner than later. wish we can keep Panucci though. if anything, Montella would have to part ways with that contract of his........ god bless.

I have yet to jump in on the discussion surrounding this mercato and I will continue to do so. The only signing that remotely makes sense would be Nilmar because he's available for CL. Osvaldo and Podolski can wait until the summer. We NEED another unless we really think we can rely on Paddy Panucci's brother and Juan to stay healthy for the rest of the season. I don't know if there is much of a point to purchasing a big name LB as we still have Antunes on the books and he's supposedly the future. I think guys like Biava or Carrozierri would be good CB fill-ins and Nilmar would be the brightest attacking purchase.

BTW I couldn't sleep last night and managed to watch a Super Dave Osbourne re-run...I really can't believe that I live in a world where Super Dave Osbourne was popular.

Montella reminds me of those basketball players that get overpaid to sit the bench. take Michael Finley on the San Antonio Spurs, he gets paid almost as much as Tim Duncan but definitely more than Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili (latter 2 star players). Finley is by no means a better player than either of those alone too. don't get me wrong though, i love Montella and all. just wish we'd play him off the bench more. he seemed very tenacious on his last outting, subbing for Totti.

AS Roma defender Christian Panucci and midfielder Alberto Aquilani are close to renewing their respective contracts after lengthy negotiations. Coach Luciano Spalletti's input and desire to keep most of the best players at AS Roma was decisive.
