Inter Ponder Sensational Swoop For Cassano - Reports

Inter are finding it difficult to persuade Genoa President Enrico Preziosi to part company with Argentine striking sensation Diego Milito and have, reportedly, set up a backup plan.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports this morning that the Via Durini directors are mulling over the possibility of approaching Sampdoria with a mega offer to bring Antonio Cassano to the Stadio San Siro.

'The Talento di Bari Vecchia' would command a fee of at least €18 million, but the Beneamata could sweeten the pot by throwing in the deal teenage striker Mario Balotelli, who is deemed to be surplus to requirements by coach José Mourinho.

According to the newspaper, a meeting between the parties has already taken place at the Nerazzurri headquarters, and President Massimo Moratti is allegedly waiting to get the green light from the Portuguese tactician.

The reported move would severely disrupt Juventus’ plans, as the Old Lady has been heavily linked with 'Fantantonio' in the past and they were hoping to sign him as a free-agent in 2010, when his deal with the Blucerchiati will expire.

A player like Cassano, a 'second' or playmaker forward, is just what Ibra, I mean Inter, I mean Ibra, needs for your front-line. Of course, it might help if you ditch some of the 16 prima-punta forwards your currently have in your squad. But I don't think Cassano would be a wise choice, but perhaps Tevez, with his future at Wankchester in the balance, would be the ideal signing. He is an Argie too and I heard you have one or two of them already.

Calcio Comedy: Ranieri And Mourinho Arrested After Restaurant Brawl
What should have been a tasty treat has ended up in a nasty feat, leaving both coaches red faced and, just like the beer, bitter...

Inter coach Jose Mourinho and Juventus tinkerman Claudio Ranieri have spent the night in the cell of a Milanese police station after a squabble between the duo escalated into violence - leaving ‘Galliani’s’, a popular Italian restaurant, to pick up the pieces and count the costs.

After months and years of sour words between both men, a truce had been called. Ranieri accepted Mourinho’s dinner invitation and a time and date was set in order to clear the air and start the new year healthily, positively and, just like ‘Galliani’s’ cellar, full of good spirits.

The duo chose the neutral, but exciting venue in the centre of Milan where good food is hard to find and the staff is rarely kind. Both men were greeted by Adriano Galliani, the owner. Naturally he was all smiles and eager to get his hands on some cash.

Table 27 was chosen even though Ranieri had asked for 29. Nevertheless, things progressed well and the drinks began to arrive. Mourinho sipped his way through a pint of ‘Becks’ while Ranieri enjoyed a glass of ‘red Rino’.

Along with the drinks came the food - the Inter chief was hungry and ordered ‘Pato the duck’, while his guest chose ‘Chicken Berlusconi’. Both men exchanged a few words as onlookers and fans posed for photos. The table was soon full of cheese - the waiters kept bringing the stuff out every time a picture was taken.

It was soon time to go. Ranieri and his Inter friend were happy, satisfied and full, but this all changed when the bill arrived.

Emmanuel Eboue has revealed that Inter Milan are keen on prising him away from Arsenal.

The Italian giants have been linked with an approach for the Gunners' utility man in the past, but have always kept their distance.

However, with the January transfer window now in full swing, the rumour mill has spluttered back into life.

Eboue has struggled for form and fitness this season, even coming under fire from his own supporters during one memorably disappointing showing against Wigan.

He claims to be happy to remain at the Emirates Stadium for now, but admits the issue may be taken out of his hands.

"I have been linked with Inter before, but at the moment I am happy at Arsenal," Eboue told skysports.com.

"I am fighting to reach the level I was at in 2006. I have been the victim of many injuries and that is why I have not been consistent enough. But I will fight and prove my worth to the fans.

"I am happy at the club. Inter are a great club as well, but I don't know what will happen. Let's wait and see."

Mourinho backs Inter Milan bid for Cassano

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has opened talks with Sampdoria over striker Antonio Cassano.

Moratti is determined to beat Juventus for Cassano, who is likely to quit Samp at the end of the season for a bigger club.

Gazzetta dello Sport says a clause in Cassano's deal allows him to leave Samp in 2009 for £14 million and Moratti has been given the green light by coach Jose Mourinho to go for the ex-Real Madrid striker.

Inter intend to drive down the cash component by offering players - including Mario Balotelli - in part-exchange.

Juventus Have First Choice For Cassano

The Bianconeri are, for once, ahead of bitter rivals Inter in the race, not for the Scudetto, but for Sampdoria striker Cassano.

Juventus have joined Inter in the race for Sampdoria star Antonio Cassano and it's the Bianconeri who have been favourites to land the marksman.

Reports on Wednesday claimed Inter would swap Mario Balotelli for the former Real Madrid man in a mega deal, but that move was denied by the Milanese.

Juve are now ready to slip in and, reports suggest, that they have the upper hand. Tuttosport claims the Old Lady already have made a verbal agreement with Samp, allowing them to lead the race for the forward when the time comes that the Genoa-based club decide to sell him.

Blucerchiati president Riccardo Garrone has already told Juve that they will be informed first when Cassano is up for sale. Garrone told Juve chief John Elkann he would be willing to do business with him over lunch.

"When we decide to sell Cassano, Juve will be the first to know," Garrone is quoted as saying on Tuttosport.

The former Bari man will not be a cheap buy, even though his behaviour has been poor at times.

Samp value Cassano at €18 million with around €5m heading to Real Madrid once a sale is completed. It's unclear as to whether Juve will make their move now or wait until the summer.

Reports: Inter's huge Hamsik offer

Inter could break the bank to try and bring Napoli midfield star Marek Hamsik to San Siro.

The Italian champions flirted with Slovakian international Hamsik during the summer, but were told he was not for sale at any price.

However, the ex-Brescia man continues to dazzle Serie A supporters and remains a target for the Nerazzurri.

There are now reports in Tuttosport that Inter are preparing a mega bid for Hamsik that Napoli would be unable to refuse.

This alleged offer would see Brazilian star Amantino Mancini join Napoli on loan for the rest of the season and a fee of around £35m change hands.

Although Vesuviani chief Aurelio De Laurentiis is determined to keep hold of his key men, he would struggle to dismiss such a sum of money.

These reports seem somewhat far-fetched, however, as Mancini only arrived at Inter last summer, signing a big-money deal.

Rocchi-Crespo swap suggested

There are whispers that Inter may offer Hernan Crespo plus a large cash sum for Lazio striker Tommaso Rocchi.

Inter are believed to be looking for a new striker as Adriano's future remains up in the air.

A number of names have been linked with the Beneamata and the latest is that of Lazio star Rocchi.

The Venetian marksman has been a pivotal figure for the capital club in recent times, but he hasn't been guaranteed a first-team place this term because of the emergence of Mauro Zarate.

According to Leggo, Inter may offer Rocchi a way out by approaching Lazio with an exchange deal.

Inter could be willing to table a bid of nearly £9m with Argentine outcast Crespo sent to the capital.

Crespo wore the Lazio shirt between 2000 and 2002 and scored an impressive 52 goals in 70 appearances.
