I translated it as:

Carlo, here's another version of that 'quote' which I think makes it a bit clearer:

Yes Shield I did say that. But then again, people were saying, well maybe we shouldn't buy the friendly left-footed German and instead bring back Cerci and get him and Okaka more time in the first squad... Listen I'd love both of those guys to succeed, particularly for us in the future. But since the former has had his share of injuries and would probably continue to do so at Trigoria and the latter has not played at all, I don't think that's a very realistic prospect if you want to at least pretend to compete for domestic titles and a decent spot in Europe. Both need to get more exposure and consistent playing time at a high level.. At least from the very superficial point of view that I've got here in HK.

Hence the "I think you all are nuts if you want to turn down Podolski" comment. "At all costs" has variable definitions...

Lesson learned I should have thrown in some quotes.

All I was really suggesting, 'moldy, is that we should rely on our youngsters more and save our dosh only for some really special transfers. I say sell the dead wood over the summer - Doni, Riise, Baptista, Pizarro, Perrotta - bring back Curci, Andreolli, Rosi, Faty, and Cerci and then spend the cash on players like Messi and Aguero. It usually works for me in Chumpionshite Manager.

I think most of us who actually follow the club had a fairly good idea we had a friendly today, Edzo. When you say keeping it quiet, are you criticising the club for not following that basic principle of advertising and printing it on the bottom of all Bulmers glasses so you'd get to read it every 7 or 8 minutes every evening?

We signed Mladen this summer didn't we? Never heard of the other two, but good to see them getting a run out so young. Why isn't Okaka playing?
