Bravo, boys. Still, this formation is going to give us all a few grey hairs in its own way. It can make us look so static at times and it also inevitably concedes so much space to the opposition fullbacks (because Brighi and Perrotta are tucked in narrow) so that teams can keep the ball for fun against us. Still, a much better second half and a job well done. Simone, the king of Profondita' indeed. No doubt theoffside boys will continue to tell us that his running brings simply hustle. What a fabulous contribution to the goal and excellent from Menez too for the second - exactly what we wanted, following up his MoM performance with a quieter but still important contribution. Riise had another solid game I think, apart from one defensively hairy moment. He's so much stronger in the air for us than Max which makes a big difference at times.

While you struggled to really control the match, you didn't allow Bordeaux clear chances. Mexes, in particular, was very good.
