Was Baptista's nice pass into Panucci's path at the end there the first good thing he did all half? Yes, Tonno - profondita', profondita', profondita'. The problem, of course, is that 0-0 at 80 minutes basically suits both sides and it's making for a terrible game. What a flat, dull, unambitious performance.

Thank God that half is over, that was some tough goin. Remind me who is the home team again (although on the flipside, are there any Bordeaux fans in the stadium?)? We haven't settled yet and the boys seem very nervous and unsure of themselves, making the wrong decisions and failing to do the easy thing. We need to get on the ball more, control the play, dictate the match and let it flow from there. Obviously its difficult with quite a flat midfield and with Baptista and Totti failing to impose themselves on the game, and we're clearly lacking a true regista out there. Vucinic was warming up quite a bit and is likely to come in at some stage to liven things up a little, so that may help. We expect more. Do we want to win the fucking group or what, or are we just content with being runners up once again?

Depth - it's Spags's catchword for what a striker who makes runs in behind defences brings. You need to ask questions in behind to create space for Totti to play in - and to give running options to the guys on the ball. We're too cramped, all wanting to play in front of the back four rather than making those runs in behind. Menez has made a couple as has Simone and Juan has made one. That's about it.
